Project 365 - Day 13

I found a leaflet in my letterbox a couple of days ago, informing me of a tai chi Open Day prior to classes starting in my neighbourhood from next week.

For years, I used to take yoga classes in Amsterdam; but I gave it up after I gave up working at hp, simply because I no longer had any reason to be in the area...I do miss it, though. Unfortunately, as I'm no good at exercising and meditating on my own, I've never found an alternative closer to home offering classes at a time and place to suit me. So when this leaflet arrived, an idea popped into my head: why don't I go and give it a try?

My first proper lesson starts Wednesday evening, and I'm really looking forward to it. Just looking at the demonstration today made me feel calmer and more relaxed than I have in weeks!

I have always wanted to try tai chi. Maybe I'll find a class or something one of these days!

I've been fascinated by it for years. I'm glad I'm now getting the opportunity to try it; and I hope that one day, you will have it, too.

Hope you enjoy it! Yoga's been a (fairly literal) lifesaver to me lately, and I know how much I'd miss it. Calm is good.

Yoga's been a (fairly literal) lifesaver to me lately

In a sense, yoga was for me and all. I took it up (i.e. was dragged into it by my best friend, who'd been a practitioner for years) during a particularly stressful period in my life, and it helped me so much. I loved it so much, actually, that I took a Teacher Training Course and I had just started teaching, when I managed to injure one of my ankles so badly that I had to give it up -- temporarily, I thought, but it took almost 3 years and by then, I'd decided to leave the day job...

I'm glad you're finding it equally beneficial to your (mental) health.

I'll be interested to hear how you like it. I've not yet found a tai-chi class at the right time or the right place, and have opted for yoga instead, but I'm still intigued by tai-chi and want to try it sometime.

I've been tempted to do the yoga teacher training where I take my yoga classes, but it is a bit on the pricey side...do you think you might take it up again sometime?

I would love to take it up again some day. Teacher training gave me so much more insight into the dynamics of yoga, as well as a proper grounding in meditation techniques, that I still reap the benefits today. But mostly, it just enhanced the pleasure I took in it ;-).
