Just a bit of fun, really

I had nothing better to do (except watch Cold Mountain -- brilliant film), and so I give you another drabble.

Fandom: BtVS
Timeline: S6, during DMP
Summary: Ever wondered whether the rat cage was ever used again?
POV: Amy Madison, post-rat

Homecoming

He could have shown a little more enthusiasm. Really, he could. She'd been prepared for an initial reaction of stunned disbelief, but had imagined it would be followed by unmitigated, unfathomable joy soon after. Wasn't that how fathers were supposed to behave when their long-lost little one turned up on their doorstep?

Well, her father hadn't; in fact, all she'd gotten from him had been an incredulous “You're as crazy as your mother!” when she told him how she'd been living in a rat cage. Which was why he was currently treading the wheel she'd been turning for years.

Ha! Never thought of Amy as having a father, but she must have, what with her mom cooped up in the athletic trophy. Good one. Good place for him, too. She was evil, sure, but also an abandoned daughter, poor kid.

Nice work, G!

Well, I think she mentioned him once when she was out Bronzing with Willow, but I can't remember what she said exactly (and I'm too lazy to look it up).

Glad you liked! I was actually aiming for a drabble to answer my own challenge in Kallysten's drabble-a-thon: describe how Amy first met Rack, but this is what came out when I started thinking about the character.

It's funny how the characters don't always do the expected thing. They get notional and take on a life all their own.

Little devils -- but yeah, that's certainly true. However, I'm hoping that now that I've let her have her way this once, maybe she'll tell me how she met up with Rack next.

Indeed -- little scamps! I'm currently trying to get Spike and Tara out of bed and on to Westbury, but they refuse to budge. They're full and sleepy and quite frankly, all f~@ked-out.

Oh let them sleep; they'll need their wits about them later, I daresay...and besides, it's a holiday!
