100 words

Years on, and he's happier than he ever thought he would be. He may no longer have two brown eyes, but he's got his health, his friends, the love of a good woman, and his business...his booming business. He's done pretty well for himself, and he's quite content with how his life has turned out.

But sometimes, when he takes out his wallet to pay a supplier, he'll stop and stare at the crisp dollar bills, and remember. Anya...And he wonders if he did the right thing, leaving her.

Years on, and he still doesn't know the answer.

That's beautiful.
Mar. 15th, 2005 06:56 pm (UTC)
You think? Oh, I'm so glad! :-)
Mar. 15th, 2005 07:11 pm (UTC)
I love how it's the money that reminds him. Very sweet.
Mar. 15th, 2005 08:14 pm (UTC)
Thank you!
Mar. 15th, 2005 07:21 pm (UTC)
I really like that. It's so bittersweet but so Xander. Thank you.
Mar. 15th, 2005 08:15 pm (UTC)
Uh uh uh, thank you!
Mar. 15th, 2005 09:04 pm (UTC)
That is very good. Love it.

You almost made me feel sorry for Xander. Almost.
Mar. 15th, 2005 09:11 pm (UTC)
Don't feel sorry for Xan-man. He's alright, really, he is.

I wonder why he keeps whispering to me, though...
Mar. 15th, 2005 09:16 pm (UTC)
He does? Oh, now that's scary...
Mar. 15th, 2005 09:24 pm (UTC)
He does?

Yeah, sort of...I mean, on a grand total of 6 drabbles/ficlets, he's in 3 of them. That's quite...scary. ;-)
Mar. 15th, 2005 10:34 pm (UTC)
That's good. Just a peak at him. (And really, that's all we need. I'm not a Xanfan, but I still like this.)

Welcome. Please come in and spend your money.
Mar. 16th, 2005 07:22 am (UTC)
Glad you liked, despite not liking Xander. Me, I don't hate him...hated how he behaved towards Spike sometimes, but on the whole...nope, don't hate him.

Welcome. Please come in and spend your money.

No retailer ever sounded more sincere! ;-)

That is so absolutely Xander. But he shouldn't need to wonder - he should KNOW it was the stupidest thing to do!
Mar. 16th, 2005 07:28 am (UTC)
he should KNOW it was the stupidest thing to do!

Except where it comes to vampires and what to do with them, I see Xander as a bit of a ditherer. Deep down, his old insecurities never let him be sure of anything...not even of his love for Anya.
Mar. 16th, 2005 03:12 am (UTC)
Awww... that was very sweet. I really like it!
Mar. 16th, 2005 07:29 am (UTC)
I'm so glad you liked!

Mar. 17th, 2005 10:09 am (UTC)
Coming from you, that means a lot. Thank you!
Mar. 17th, 2005 03:02 pm (UTC)
I'm always appreciative of good drabbles, since I can't write them myself.
Mar. 17th, 2005 03:23 pm (UTC)
Hee! And I wish I could sustain an idea long enough to make it into a real story! ;-)
Mar. 17th, 2005 03:29 pm (UTC)
That's the beauty of fandom. You get your long stories, you get your short stories, you get your drabbles... There's something for everyone! :)

I think Xander made the right choice to cancel the wedding. He was awfully young and had a lot of doubts. That was a smart move, but the way he left Anya to take care of the cancelation is the dumb one. Then again, he was completely out of it at that time shaking by the nightmare he had lived. And he had said sorry billion of times.

That was a very sweet drabble. I really don't get the Xander hate, I'm a Spike fan and I adore Xander.

Wow! Thank you for your comment, and for liking the drabble.

He was awfully young and had a lot of doubts.

That's basically my take on his character, too -- someone who deep down is never 100% sure that the decision he's made has been the right one (unless is was to dust vampires). I always had a lot of sympathy for Xander, and The Zeppo is one of my favourite episodes.
