Years on, and he's happier than he ever thought he would be. He may no longer have two brown eyes, but he's got his health, his friends, the love of a good woman, and his business...his booming business. He's done pretty well for himself, and he's quite content with how his life has turned out.

But sometimes, when he takes out his wallet to pay a supplier, he'll stop and stare at the crisp dollar bills, and remember. Anya...And he wonders if he did the right thing, leaving her.

Years on, and he still doesn't know the answer.

I think Xander made the right choice to cancel the wedding. He was awfully young and had a lot of doubts. That was a smart move, but the way he left Anya to take care of the cancelation is the dumb one. Then again, he was completely out of it at that time shaking by the nightmare he had lived. And he had said sorry billion of times.

That was a very sweet drabble. I really don't get the Xander hate, I'm a Spike fan and I adore Xander.

Wow! Thank you for your comment, and for liking the drabble.

He was awfully young and had a lot of doubts.

That's basically my take on his character, too -- someone who deep down is never 100% sure that the decision he's made has been the right one (unless is was to dust vampires). I always had a lot of sympathy for Xander, and The Zeppo is one of my favourite episodes.
