Bread and butter

I was running a bit late this morning, as I'd gone to see the doctor (and you'll be pleased to know, curiouswombat, that he did order the blood tests to be done -- while I'm pleased to know that soon, I'll be resuming my flirtation with Menno the cute physiotherapist); and rushed, I had no time for breakfast. When I got to the airport (the halfway point), I was entirely ravenous, so I got a sandwich on the go. It was only when I took my first bite, while hobbling to catch the bus, that I realised I'd paid 5,60 euros for it! That's ƒ12,32 of our old money! Two years ago, I would NEVER have paid that much for a sandwich, I don't care how many olives they would have piled on.

Honestly, they're having a laugh -- and they can, because two years after the introduction of the euro, I still can't work out what anything is priced at!

Still, it was a delicious sandwich...

Olive ciabatta with mozzarella, Italian cured ham, rocket, tomatoes, more olives, and a lovely pesto sauce...very nice, but still not worth ƒ12,-...
