I've been trying unsuccessfully for days to come up with something that doesn't look extremely amateurish and naff, and I can't do it. So I'm throwing myself on your mercy here, guys/gals, please take pity on me --

I want a Dr. Who icon. Can someone make point me to where I can find one, pleeeeaaaase. I will be forever in your debt.

Hmmm - the link still works for me. Send me your gmail address and I'll forward it on to you. I'm on the faster machine tonight so it shouldn't take long.

gamiilaelastic@gmail.com -- yeah, I don't know where the 'elastic' came from, either.

It's on its way to your LJ addy. Let me know when it gets there.

My LJ addy? Does that work, then? I guess we're about to find out!

Well -- that was...interesting! He's got a nice voice; not sure about the arrangement, though...

Having listened to the GOTR stuff from Mad Brilliant, I was very pleasantly surprised by this. His voice is nice, something one would never have guessed from Rest in Peace and a lot of the band stuff. This track is an old one of his. It's improved IMO by this treatment.

Like his guitar work,too.

Actually, I think there's too much instrumentation on it. I imagine it would sound better just him and the guitar, acoustic-like. The drums and the electric guitar drown out his voice in parts of it, and the trumpet is just a little too much. The lyrics don't sound particularly inspired, and overall I'd have to say: nice effort, but doesn't quite make the grade.

Well, we're going to get him sans backing musicians on the UK tour, apparently. I've heard live versions of this and the bluesy number and, while this one benefits from him being solo, the blues one suffers from the lack of drums at least.

There is one song of his I like: This Time, and i hear he's quite fond of it as well, so I'll be quietly humming along to that one at least. Now remind me -- were you coming to the Islington show as well, or is it just the church for you?

Oops! It's This Town baby, this town baby, is gonna be you-hors...Very catchy!

Just the church. But I'm going in on the Friday to meet up with the Gang of Four and then go on to meet the CDSers who are going to be at both events in force. I can't hang around after the church concert because we're off to France he following morning - the long cruise.

And now I'm off to bed, hopefully to not have a repeat of last night.
