They've invited me to take part in the selection process -- starting with a psychological test some time in the next few weeks. If I can get through that, I'll get an interview, a writing assignment, another psychological test, a medical, and finally the all-important terms of employment and benefits negotiation round. Then, provided the security check into my background doesn't find anything controversial in my past, I could have another job by the middle of October!

I can't believe I made it past the first hurdle -- let's hope I can make it past the others, too. I'm so buoyed by this news, I've been celebrating my good fortune by going into town and acquiring two new pairs of shoes, this Feeder-cd, and a big white glass clock with orange and purple flowers on its face. Yay!

Thank you -- being new to my flist, you can have no idea how much my current job and I don't agree with one another, and how long I've been waiting for a break like this. Fingers crossed I get the job (it's with Her Majesty's Secret Service, hence the super-spy reference).

OMG, that is very cool. Can I ask what you'll be doing?

Spymaster! I'll be a real life M! ;-)

Seriously though, the position is for an Intelligence Officer; and the job consists of gathering specific information, researching, analysing and reporting -- it's the communication aspect of it that most attracts me. There's openings in both the foreign and domestic intelligence bureaus; I'm hoping my language skills (Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish) will get me into the foreign section.

Of course, it'll all be over if I fail my security check -- would blabbing about it all over the Internet be considered a breach of security? I'd better keep schtumm from now on! ;-)
