Oct. 5th, 2005

Flying out on the morrow, though sadly lacking in much enthusiasm at the moment. Still got a heap of things to do: housework, grocery shopping, packing (i.e. deciding what shoes to bring), try and come up with a plan...How did I get to where I am now? Two weeks ago, I was in a job I hated -- but it was alright, I was getting on with it. Now when I come back, I may not have that job for much longer, and with no job on the horizon, how will I pay the mortgage? What will I do to stave off penury? I should have thought of that before I took a sickie once too often, shouldn't I?

Right. CoRo tomorrow. Shall I bring a camera, or rely on Geoff? His pictures are always so much better and clearer than mine...No glad rags this time, don't feel like dressing up. Just plain old jeans and a T-shirt will do. Bring the boots that I still haven't broken in properly? Mustn't forget to pack a towel or two, as apparently there aren't any at our Glasgow accommodation. Get off LJ before my mood puts a dampener on anyone else's spirit.

No Geoff in Glasgow -- then I will be packing a camera, after all; see if I can snag me a shot of the infamous flowery shirt myself! ;-)

I'm sure I can; if fact, I have been looking at agency advertised jobs already, and I'm sure I can go that way if I need to. It's just that with the talk with HR looming when I get back, I'm kind of worried what I might be throwing away...If, for instance, they agree to my leaving the company in say 3 months, and I haven't found anything else in the meantime, I'll have signed away my right to benefit should I need it. And I've been paying into that pot for the last 12 years, too! :(

Go. Enjoy. Stuff the rest, you can worry about that when you get home and know exactly what's on offer from HP.

Don't forget your towel. And if you're going to Glasgow you may need a Babel Fish, too.

Ah! Here speaks the voice of reason! I will do exactly as you say, and my next entry into this journal will be one of squee, I promise. ;-)

Oh, and is it alright if I come and stay with you again the weekend of our JM extravaganza?

Good for you!

Oh, and is it alright if I come and stay with you again the weekend of our JM extravaganza?

Can't see any reason why not - kind of assumed you would be. But I think we'll stay up in town on the Saturday night, if that's OK with you, because getting back out to the sticks late on is a right royal pain in the butt. I'll book us into a twin in a Travel Lodge or whatever, shall I? Shouldn't break the bank.

Go ahead and book it, that'll be fine. And I'll see about booking a flight out on the 28th right now!

Oooh, can't wait to see your kitchen...

What? No worktop yet? Oh dear.

Hug Eric as hard and as often as possible :)

Will do. Goes without saying, really...

BTW, do we have any plans for Sunday 30th? I mean, would you prefer me to stay another day, would you think it rude if I went home?

Whatever suits you. No plans, so you're welcome to stay or not as you please - it would be good to have you, but I won't be the least offended if you need to get home.

Oh! Wait! Just remembered - it's Alex's birthday party on Sunday afternoon. He's having a swimming party at the local pool (I WILL NOT be going in, no way, but I'll have to be there). But apart from that no plans.

What? It's his birthday AGAIN? God, how time flies!

Anyway, I've booked my flight back for that Sunday afternoon now. I just remembered I'd forgotten to book the Monday off.
