Closing the door on the past

I've just phoned through my decision. We will have a meeting on Tuesday to hammer out the details, but to all intents and purposes, I am no longer an HP employee.

Best of luck on whichever path you take from now!

Well, it can't be any worse than my earlier career decisions...can it?
Oct. 21st, 2005 09:14 pm (UTC)
Well being an archaeologist seems like a mighty fine career decision to me!
Oct. 24th, 2005 10:27 am (UTC)
But I'm not working in archaeology any more, am I? And before you ask: realistically, I can't see myself returning to it.
Oct. 24th, 2005 10:28 am (UTC)
No I know, but you said none of your earlier career choices were good, and personally I think that was a great choice.
Oct. 21st, 2005 01:45 pm (UTC)
Now that you have taken action, things will become clearer and easier to sort out, so well done you: )

I see your mood is "relieved". Moving on to the future, good for you. You are brave and strong and good things are in your future. (I know, I sound like a fortune cookie or something.)

Just a random thought from out of no where: Have you ever thought about being a reporter for public radio?
Oct. 21st, 2005 03:23 pm (UTC)
Hee. No. ;-)
Oct. 21st, 2005 03:26 pm (UTC)

Oct. 21st, 2005 03:39 pm (UTC)
Well done on making your decision - I think you have done the right thing, whichever of the two 'leave' options you took.
Oct. 21st, 2005 03:47 pm (UTC)
When I rang the HR representative, she was in the car; therefore we didn't get down to the nitty-gritty. I will be going for the outplacement option though, unless I change my mind between now and Tuesday.

Good for you. Completely sure you're doing the right thing, but I guess that didn't make the deciding any easier, but hopefully now it's a done deal, you'll be feeling like a loads been lifted.

We must drink a nice glass of bubbles to your bright new future at the weekend :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence...but I'm sure you're right: I will find something else. Don't know why I was dragging my feet over this decision so long...
Oct. 22nd, 2005 02:05 pm (UTC)
Good for you! Outplacement will broaden your mind and help you find out what you really want to do...
May I suggest this site if you are allowed to pick your own outplacement professionals?

And yes, a friend of mine works there...
Oct. 22nd, 2005 02:26 pm (UTC)
Bedankt voor de tip! Ik weet nog niet of mij de keuze gelaten zal worden, maar ik zal het zeker in overweging nemen als HP ermee instemt.
