Last chance

To be honest, I didn't think these were all that obscure, except for maybe the album tracks...Anyway, I've decided: this is the last time I'll post them. I don't think you're going to get these, and frankly, by now I'm a little bored with this game, and I imagine you may be, too! I'll add a few hints, maybe that'll help:

1. Put your playlist on shuffle.
2. Post the first lines to the first 25 songs to come up (along with these instructions).
3. Have people guess the songs and artists in comments to the post.
4. Post the answers to the ones people guessed correctly. A couple of days later, post the first two lines of the ones no one got and get people to guess again.
5. Repeat, adding the next line to the unguessed songs each time, until they're all guessed/you've posted the whole song/you've gotten bored/no-one's going to get the damn thing if you don't tell them.

01) In one single moment your whole life can turn 'round.
I stand there for a minute starin’ straight into the ground
Lookin' to the left slightly, then lookin' back down
World feels like it's caved in - proper sorry frown

(single off a triple platinum concept album released last year by a one man Northern Midlands band)

-- Dry Your Eyes, The Streets, speakr2customrs (yay!)

09) Ache -- can't watch you break and shatter
Saved new lives to make us better
I'm letting you know
Cleansing my soul

(from the critically acclaimed fifth album by a British post-grunge band)

-- Tender, Feeder, as found by speakr2customrs

12) If you hate the taste of wine why do you drink it till you're blind?
And if you swear that there's no truth and who cares, how come you say it like you're right?
Why are you scared to dream of God when it's salvation that you want?
(indie country rock from Omaha)

13) Autumn blew its leaves at me, threatening winter as I walked.
Summer always goes so quick, barely stopping like my thoughts,
which dip and spin and change so fast I have to wonder - will I last?
(one of my favourite songs from one of my favourite artists, from his eponymous 1991 solo record)

14) They fired off the first shot, so we’re on our feet and running
We’re re-writing all the textbooks in the process of becoming
There’s so much to live for if we stop putting up a fight

(a song by another favourite artist of mine; someone whose music is influenced by that of the Far East and India)

-- Café Europa, David Sylvian, calove

20) I caused a major war just by talking
You flew into a rage, 'cause that's everything you know
Childhood of violence, filled with heartache
I flew into a rage, 'cause that's everything I know
(don't know too much about this band, but they rock!)

Chirac's an idiot

I had to run out with no time for breakfast again this morning; and I could so murder a fry-up and copious cups of hot, strong, extra sweet tea right now -- if there's one thing I miss about staying in the UK for any length of time, it's the ready availability of the right kind of bacon rashers. Because although I may be able to get the mushrooms, the tomatoes, the eggs and the sausages (not proper bangers, of course, but something not too far removed from them), as well as the Heinz baked beans and the fried bread, and even some blackpudding on occasion, try as I might, I can never find the streaky bacon I crave. In Holland, bacon comes in wispy thin, see-through slices, and that simply won't do. Throw it in the pan, there's nothing remaining!

Oh well, I suppose I can go down to the canteen in half an hour, and get a bap and a watery soup instead.
