I was in town just now, as Sinterklaas is upon us and with a 4-year-old nephew, there's simply no escaping from it. We'll be celebrating it a little early this year (i.e. tomorrow), and so I'd gone into town to find presents for the whole family. I'd already bought a necklace for my niece (hope she likes it), a gorgeous woollen scarf for my sister (hope she likes it as much as I do), and a game for my 17-year old nephew (hope he likes it); and was on my way to get my little nephew a toy or something, when I decided I'd buy a nice cream or fragrance for my mum. I was totally absorbed in selecting one, taking the tops off several jars, bringing them up to my nose and putting them back on the shelves, and finally finding a tester for a body lotion in a squirt bottle. I pressed it, and nothing happened. I pressed it a little harder, and a great big blob flew out, instantly covering my hands. Surprised, I jerked back a bit, then laughed and looked around for a tissue -- and looked straight into a camera not 3 inches away from my face! The camera man behind it took it off his shoulder for a second, and asked if I minded him filming me, telling me it was for an item on the local news. When I said I didn't, he asked if I could repeat my earlier actions of picking, testing and choosing, and I did. Hee -- I'm going to be on the local evening news! When I went to pay for the bitter almond body milk, the shop assistants were all agog, called me an actress and assured me it had all looked very natural from where they'd been standing, and promised they were all going to watch it tonight. What d'you know: I'm a star!
