If it's not one thing it's another
An age ago, when I was in my teens, I suffered from the condition known as pityriasis versicolor on my upper body. Although it's a fairly harmless, non-infectious disease, it caused me no end of embarrassment while I was at that crucial age between 15 and 20 years old -- not only were my chest and shoulders a funny colour, but the cure involved the liberal and oft-repeated application of a strong-smelling selenium sulfide shampoo on the affected areas.
In the end though, I was cured; but I never forgot how awful it made me feel to have something wrong with my skin, and have people stare at me. So when last week I noticed the tell-tale discolourations and flakings appear on my eyelids, I knew that I had to act. I rushed out and got the selenium sulfide, and daubed it on the spots. That was two days ago. I can now open my eyes a crack and see that I've made things a lot worse. The burning sensation is slowly subsiding, but my eyelids are red, puffy and inflamed, and still flaking. I look like a scarecrow, and I've got an interview on Tuesday...
I'll make another doctor's appointment, but by golly! lately, if it's not one thing it's another. :(
