Walk The Line

I know my flist have been mostly banging on about Brokeback Mountain and how wonderful a film it is, but if I might make a suggestion: if, like me, you're in a part of the world where it hasn't been released yet, yet you still want to go to the pictures, you could do a lot worse than going to see Walk The Line - even if, like me, you're not a diehard fan of country & western, or Johnny Cash. I'm never normally that impressed with biopics, but this one is really, really good; and Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are my new favourite moviestars (yes, that's moviestars, not actors, though they do a pretty good job of acting and singing in this, too).

So it really is the hotness of Johnny Cash, not that of Joaquin Phoenix, that comes across in the film, is it? Interesting...

Oh yes. Johnny was smokin' hot. In this dangerous, reckless, supremely confident, singing-just-to-you kind of way. In a conversation with my 82 year old mother, I found out she found him smokin' hot too. She was probably the same age I am now when those same tv shows aired.

To tell you the truth, I thought Joaquin could've been hotter, but maybe that's because I was expecting that raw sexiness, and it hit me so hard with Cash himself because I'd never have expected it.
