Please don't let me piss my money away!

What do we think of 3/4 length trousers? More specifically, what do we think of these Image hosting by TinyPic 3/4 length trousers? I saw them in a boutique today and believe me, they look much better in reality than in this picture. They've got all these zippers on them and they're camouflage...I haven't got any camo duds yet...

And can I just ask you, since I'm about to go piss my money away anyway, your honest opinion about the Lacoste 'Club'-range in shoes; more specifically, the so-called 'Legacy' and 'Klimt' models? I tried them on and they're so bloody comfy, the leather uppers just so incredibly soft, that I'm seriously tempted...but...I don't know, don't you think they're a little too pedestrian for me?

They're nice, not too keen on 3/4 trousers myself though. I prefer normal, proper army trousers... which reminds me, I need some new ones...

I confess I was first drawn to the normal, proper army trousers myself when I spotted the camo rack in that shop yesterday. Then I saw these; and thought they'd probably go well with with my yellow lace-ups

that I haven't worn in ages but found at the back of the closet a couple of weeks ago and have wanted to bring back into regular use ever since.

Thoes are awsome! I like the pants too. We call them capris here. I don't like to wear shorts, but need something cooler than long pants in the summer so have started wearing them. (I have some on today as a matter of fact.) And the camo ones are really cute.

Well yes, they are rather...and I was right: they and my new duds go very well together! ;-)

I suppose I could refer to the trousers as a type of capris; although to be honest, that name conjures up a less sporty, more stylish image. Typically, the capris we wore in the 60s and again in the 80s were sleek, high-waisted, 3/4 length slacks that did up at the side, never the front.

oooooe I love those! I'm a big fan of 3/4 length thousers, I have a 3/4 pair of jeans which are my favorite :D

And I'm sure you look lovely in them!

Well. As you may know, I am allll about the comfort, and if that can be done while looking cute - then I'm a happy piglet. And I too have been tempted by the cropped camo.

Some things to keep in mind about 3/4 length trousers: they're less universally flattering than many pants. By which I mean, they can have the tendency to stumpify (particularly if you're short like me). You may also want to consider how much use you need to get out of them - can/will you wear them to work? Out to dinner? If all you want is a sporty style for summer, I say go for it.

And I love the shoes. The ribbons on the Legacy are adorable. I just got a pair of patent leather ballet flats as a gift and I stare at them sometimes, they're so pretty.

Good point! At 5'7" I'm sort of average height I suppose (for Dutch women), but I'm also quite curvy and...I used to look good in capris in the 80s, but I was 20 years younger and several pounds lighter then, and cropped trousers may not be for me anymore.

And I love the shoes. The ribbons on the Legacy are adorable.

Aren't they just? Though I like the simplicity of the 'Klimt' as well. I may have to get both. ;-)

Well my teenager has a pair of trousers very similar, and she says they are very comfortable. They look pretty good with trainers, and I have seen someone wearing them for the winter tucked into long boots.

The shoes look rather smart - thet might even go with the trousers for the summer....

I thought they might work well as my holiday trousers for exploring the wilds of Shropshire with later this month, with my camo trainers or lace-up boots. Something to feel comfortable in, with lots of pockets, and if it gets dirty, it doesn't matter or show up so much.

I think they are lovely ! They would go so well with casual shoes as well as heels ! Dress em up ! Dress em down ! Either one ! Go get them !

Go get them !

Although I was looking help in finding reasons not to go get them, I think I will now!

3/4 length trousers are a tricky thing I advise trying them on to see if they're flattering if they're not I'd let them go but they are very nice.

I like the Legacy ones especially in the bluey colour (I like my vibrant colours), you'll definetly get alot of wear out of them.

A funny thing happened at the Lacoste outlet -- I ended up buying neither the Legacy nor the Klimt, but got something called the Ambiance. It looks a lot like the Klimt only the strap goes across the bridge of the foot, not the ankle. I think I may still get the legacy (in blue!) at a later date; with the weather as it is at the moment, all grey and wet, I'd rather not risk getting those pretty ribbons all soggy.

Got the duds, too; and at one size smaller than I usually take, too! Though I don't think it really means that I've lost weight (I think Mexx are flattering their customers with their sizing convention), it did help in the decision-making process! ;-)

What colour are the Ambiance ones? Yes I definetly think you should get the Legacy ones in blue in the summer, you could wear them with anything :)

I'm guessing the trousers look good on you then, a size smaller is always a good thing unless your me ;) I've had to dip into my skinny trousers because my normal ones don't fit me properly anymore.

What colour are the Ambiance ones?

Black, with a little silver croc on the heel. I preferred it to the white and pink that was the alternative.

As I said, I don't think they're a size smaller really, just mislabelled as such. But yeah, I think the trousers suit me. ;-)

I like the pants, although I won't wear the 3/4 length myself. They hit my legs at exactly the wrong place and look awful. That's what I get for being short...
Mar. 11th, 2006 01:24 pm (UTC)
I got the pants, and am hoping to get some good use out of them while I'm over in England in a few weeks. They've got 'active holiday' written all over them! ;-)
