"I never could get the hang of Thursdays"

Trust me to miss out on a bargain. This morning, when thowing out the flyers and folders that somehow made it through my letterbox in the last week or so, my eye caught on the notice that they were having a sale at Electric City, and that the Creative Zen Touch 20GB would be going for a song (or almost, at only 189,99 euros). Up until that moment, I hadn't seriously thought about getting myself an mp3 player, but over the course of the day, I managed to convince myself that I could not live another day without one. The thought that soon, I could go into town and get this shiny new gadget, was all that kept me going through another shitty day at work. All the way to the shop, I felt like I was walking on air.

And now I'm back home, without it. They had sold out.

I never could get the hang of Thursdays.

That desire came over me the other day. I got this one from Amazon:

Oooh, dinky! And...how do you like it?
May. 11th, 2006 08:19 pm (UTC)
It's not bad. A colour screen would be nice, but it's not worth the extra cash to me. No software needed either. The main problem is that I found 20GB a bit small for my many many MP3s!

You could convert them all to wma and free up half the space...(at least, I think that's possible).

I'm a woman on a mission now: this weekend, I'll be trawling the Dixons and RadioCitys and MediaMarts on the hunt for my mp3 player!
May. 11th, 2006 08:27 pm (UTC)
I could convert them, but it would take an age! It took an entire night to put them on the machine!
May. 11th, 2006 08:29 pm (UTC)
O dear. Might be easier just to get another player! ;-)
May. 11th, 2006 08:49 pm (UTC)
Don't encourage me!
May. 11th, 2006 10:23 pm (UTC)
Bummer. I hate it when that happens.

And me...I've such a burning desire for it now, that I probably will shell out the extra 100 euros to get it at normal retail price...and then, knowing how I am with gadgets, decide it's all too much hard work to find out what it can do, and leave it to gather dust in some cupboard.

where where where did you get your doctor who moodtheme??? i've been dying for one, but really haven't got the patience nor energy to make one myself. LOL
May. 12th, 2006 12:03 pm (UTC)
It's one of __kali__'s; she's done a couple, this one and a Doctor/Rose one as well, and may have done others I'm not sure. She should be back from her break this weekend, I believe...or perhaps you can still find it in the Memories of time_and_chips.
May. 12th, 2006 03:42 pm (UTC)
ooo thank you! i found it!
May. 12th, 2006 03:57 pm (UTC)
I'd say 'enjoy', but I see you are already! ;-D
May. 12th, 2006 03:58 pm (UTC)
LOL yes. put it up already. such pretty shiny pics! *strokes pictures obsessively*
May. 12th, 2006 12:33 pm (UTC)
I hate when that happens! It's a major dissapointment.
May. 12th, 2006 03:52 pm (UTC)
Not half...I can't wait for the weekend so I can have a serious trawl through the shops!
May. 12th, 2006 01:24 pm (UTC)
Oh, poo.

Maybe you could fins another cheapie one online?

And - sorry about the shittyness of the work thing. No improvements, then?
May. 12th, 2006 03:48 pm (UTC)
Well butter my bottom and call me a biscuit...Cass!!! I was just about to try out that nudge feature for the very first time! You alright, love? Client finally let you come up for air?

No improvements, then?

Nah. It's getting worse by the minute.
May. 12th, 2006 04:15 pm (UTC)

*grabs the Anchor*

OK, Garibaldi, bend over...

Client finally let you come up for air?

Not so as you'd notice. But I laugh in the face of the client and tweak his/her nose.

Then I run away and hide and pretend it wasn't me.

It's getting worse by the minute.

Oh, dear. Is this all down to Jobsworth or the situation in general?
May. 12th, 2006 05:58 pm (UTC)
Mostl, its the situation in general, but'of course, having Jobsworth there isn't helping matters any. I can't believe that man sometimes. No fewer than 5 people have left the team in the last month, one in a blazing row; and another is poised to leave at the end of this month. Meanwhile, Jobsworth is trying to get in some temps to relieve the situation a bit, but he's making impossible demands on people -- so not only do I now have to do the job of 3 or 4 people, and train 2 newbies, but this morning I came in and Gianni, who's been there less than 3 weeks, tells me that because he was half an hour late coming in (because he'd careened into a car on the way to work, but since he'd only sustained a few minor scratches had picked himself up and come in anyway), Boy had decreed that he'd have to make up for lost time by working through his lunchbreak. Poor lad, he's only just turned 20 and this is his first job, so he thought he'd better do as he was told. So I went up to Boy and told him I hoped he'd been joking, he said he hadn't, I said he was a heartless bastard, he said I should mind my own business, I said he was acting against the law...and then Gianni said he didn't want me to make waves and he'd skip lunch if that was what Boy thought was appropriate. So in the end Boy was happy, I was seething, and Gianni went hungry.

I swear, the only thing that's keeping me there is the promise of redundancy in the not too distant future...hope it's not a fata morgana.
