This day sucks

I'm slightly calmer now, but still annoyed. My e-mail's still not working; i.e., I can receive, but I can't send, which is a bloody nuisance; my minions are being contrary and difficult; I'll be stuck in meetings for the next 3 hours (oh joy); lunch consisted of a biccie and a cup of cold coffee; and to top it all off, I hear JM's come out with this favourite line of his again at DragonCon:

"To the ladies: If a guy is mean to the world, he will be mean to you."

Apart from the fact that this observation is so blatantly obvious there's no need for making it that I can see, I'd like to know: just when was Spike ever mean to the world? He's frigging helped save it a half dozen times!

Yeah, that one always iritates me as well... and I'm really glad he didn't pull it out at Vulkon. I think he needs to take a good, long look at who he's speaking to. Sure, there are generally some younger people in the audience, but invariably the majority of the crowd is older women.

I guess I just find it a little condescending... like he thinks we can't tell the difference between reality and good fictional story and character. And sometimes it makes me wonder a bit about how he sees the character -- if the bulk of the audience felt about Spike the way he sometimes seems to, he wouldn't have a fan base. It's a bit weird.

Yesss...maybe that's it. Also annoyingly moralising, too bloody obvious, and just plain boring. And you're right about it being a bit weird, too!
