A day off

When I arrived at the train station this morning, I found that due to a computer malfunction, there'd be no trains in the direction of Amsterdam. We were advised to travel via Utrecht, but, quoth I, "Sod that for a game of soldiers", and turned right round. I put my unexpected holiday to good use, in that I finally took the time to properly acquaint myself with my mp3 player, organising my music files into several playlists, converting all the m4a files on my hard drive to mp3; and somehow managing on top of that to index all my cd-s online as well (at Recordnerd.com), except for the bunch of classical music cd-s which I have still to sort out. Plus, I made a dent in the mountain of laundry waiting to be ironed.

Anyway, I need to de-nerd for the rest of the weekend, and I think this meme offers the perfect opportunity:

Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you're interested in/curious about - it can be anything, from the house I live in to my favorite shoes.(ETA: please no, not my favourite shoes again!) Leave your choice here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them as an LJ entry a reply. That way you get to know a little bit about my life.

(nicked from kat_x, btw)

Well, I say hooray for the unexpected holiday. :)

And I don't know what I'm curious about...bookshelves, maybe?

Your wish is my command:

These are just a few of the bookcases I have in my home. The're in what used to be my study but is now a kind of all-purpose rubbish room, and hold my more scientific literature on art, architecture, archaeology, philosophy and theology; plus my college notes, papers and articles. There is also, incongruously, a shelf devoted to my BtVS-tapes and my dvd-s.

My bookcases holding ordinary reading materiallook like this:

Your bookshelves look a lot like mine, which are packed. I also have piles located in various places in my room. I just can't seem to stop purchasing them.

your favourite rings/jewellry (i love rings!)
May. 28th, 2006 08:04 am (UTC)

I don't wear jewelry much. Partly because I can't (being allergic to most base metals), and partly because I'm always losing or misplacing what little jewelry I do possess. E.g., I bought a pair of pearl drop earrings last year, but I have no idea where they are.

When it comes to rings, I only have the one:

It used to be my stepmother's, who passed away 6 years ago, and I wear it as a remembrance of her.

Thank goodness I didn't take up your challenge until today; if I'd taken a picture yesterday, when it rained all day long, it would have been even drearier:

Nah, that's just the door! And the laundry basket...and a piece of luggage, I think...
