Lovely day, dry and sunny...but I woke up this morning with the mother of all headaches and feeling quite literally sick to my stomach, so after due deliberation I called in sick and got back to bed. Only to be dragged from it again by the insistent ringing of the phone and Jobsworth telling me I've called in sick one too many times this year and he will be taking the matter further. I've checked and found that this is actually the 3rd time I've felt poorly enough to take up sick leave since November (today, 2 days in January, and of course my prolonged absence in February/March when I was struck down with sciatica), so I'm pretty confident I can go into the meeting he's convened with HR and the new company doctor on Tuesday with my head held high. But he can forget about me making an effort to come in tomorrow, I don't care how short-staffed we are (and we are, since 2 of my immediate colleagues have been off sick since Whitsun, with the same complaint: gastro-enteritis) - miserable, mean little man that he is.

Yesterday, one of my co-workers commented on how obviously happy I was with my mp3 player, and I am! I've not even had it for a month, but already I won't go anywhere without it. I love it to bits, though I've been quite lazy and have only uploaded 977 songs to it so far. This morning, I've been playing a little game with it, a meme gacked from enigmaticblues, inbetween bouts of slumber and trips to the bathroom:

1.) Put your music player on shuffle
2.) Press forward for each question.
3.) Use the song title as the answer to the question.

01) How am I feeling today? - Closer by Richard Cheese
"I wanna fuck you like an animal"...oh dear, it's one of those days, is it?

02) Where will I get married? - If You Don't Know Me By Now by Simply Red
apparently, the where is not the question- it's whether we'll get there at all

03) What is my best friend's theme song? - Orpheus by David Sylvian
good song...not sure how it relates to Best Friend, though

04) What is/was highschool like? - This Is The Last Time by Keane
my highschool days are now so far back into the past I can't be sure that the mood expressed in this song is accurate or not

05) What is the best thing about me? - Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) by ABBA
hang on...the best thing about me is that I'm a nympho?!

06) How is today going to be? - Through With You by Maroon 5
looks like I'm wearing my resolve face today!

07) What is in store for next weekend? - Blue Café by The Style Council
in other words, the weekend is going to be nice and mellow with not a lot happening...I can live with that ;-)

08) What song describes my parents? - Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) by Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel
? - "I'll do what you want", maybe?

09) How is my life going? Dreaming - by Blondie
probably fairly accurate...

10) What song will they play at my funeral? - Birdhouse In Your Soul by TMBG

11) How does the world see me? Fistful Of Love - by Antony & The Johnsons
"and so I'm left to pick up the hints the little symbols of your devotion, and I feel your fist, and I know it's out of love"...so I'm not just a nympho, but an abuser as well? Nice!

12) What do my friends really think of me? Natural Anthem - by The Postal Service
"please don't be upset at this portrait that I paint; it may be a little biased but at least I spelled your name right"

13) Do people secretly lust after me? The Sun Always Shines On TV - by Delays
oh no, it's much worse than that -- it seems they want me to love them. (great a-Ha cover, btw)

14) How can I make myself happy? The Jean Genie - by David Bowie
by taking drugs? oh now, there's something I haven't tried yet! ;-)

15) What should I do with my life? You Can Have It All - by Kaiser Chiefs
what, I should deny any and all responsibility?

16) Will I ever have children? More Than I Can Bear - by Matt Bianco
this just makes no sense at all -- unless it means I will have more than I can ever bear which seems a bit strange...

17) What is some good advice? Waterfront - by Simple Minds
"get in, get out of the rain" - it's always a good idea to take shelter when the heavens open

18) What do I think my current theme song is? High - by The Cure
basic insecurities coming to the fore again

19) What does everyone else think my current theme song is? Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead - by Ella Fitzgerald

20) What type of men/women do I like? Mr. Superlove - by The Afghan Whigs
violent men with an exaggerated sense of their prowess are so not a turn-on, but according to this, they must be

21) Will I get married? In My Life - by Johnny Cash
perhaps...when I'm very, very old?

22) What should I do with my love life? Breaking Into Heaven - by The Stone Roses
"I'm gonna break right into heaven/I can't wait anymore - an exhortation to go out and get me some?

23) What's sex like? Lovesong - by The Cure
warm, loving and just a little sad, I suppose...

24) Where will I live? Missionary Man - by The Eurythmics
OK - so I'll get married late in life to a missionary man who'll take me back with him to the jungle, is that it?

25) What will my dying words be? Tears In Heaven - by Eric Clapton
no comment

Then I got up, got dressed, and purchased my Common Rotation tickets for London and Belfast -- though not the one for Glasgow yet. I don't know, were we going to book them in advance, or buy them at the door? Jules?

I'll order mine nearer the time then. If they're issuing physical tickets, the sooner I order them, the more likely I am to be physically losing them.

tickets belong on the fridge door.

it's hard to lose the fridge

(watch me do it now)

Only you...:D

hiya .. I dont think you've seen yet - but I scoped out some flights and passed thedetails to you on myspace ..

thinking of booking legs one and two today.

We can all book separately ... each on own card then - and once we all have our reference numbers one of us can go in and select adjacent seating.

sound like a plan?

Jun. 9th, 2006 02:12 pm (UTC)
Sounds like a plan to me! I'll have a look-see right now.

(I did get the notification e-mails that you'd sent a message to MySpace, but have had some trouble logging in there recently -- seems alright today, though).
Jun. 9th, 2006 02:51 pm (UTC)
ah .. might scrap the seat booking part - they charge extra for that .. surely if you turn up together at check in they can allocate us near each other though? hmm.
Jun. 9th, 2006 03:44 pm (UTC)

Anyway, I've just booked mine, so we're all set. ;-)
Jun. 10th, 2006 07:11 am (UTC)
because some people (mentioning no names) are only to be found there. i don't like it either

Jo now has those flights and tickets for London and Belfast too ... think Nai is flighting up today - and after we have all booked the wonderin' thought appears into our heads that there could be two shows on Friday? Maybe an earlier one for the under18s? cos liek there r def lots of them!!1111!!!
would be £25 to change to an earlier flight

I did the umm and ahhh song around booking a bag myself .. it would probably be ok just cabin - but I didn't want to have to consider TOO carefully my packing and bag size :) and now you have to wait in the reclaim area for me! muwhahaha. I think IF you want to change it you can buy it still, using your reference online.

Re: answer...
2 shows? Have they ever done that? Sure, they could if they wanted to, but...would they?

I think I'll be alright with my hand luggage allowance, though I could always purchase some room in the hold at a later date.

Re: answer...
not here.... but several times in the US. Couple of times in Philly, in Flordia and in New Paltz in Feb. Sometimes an afternoon and an evening ... or an early evening and a late.

Probably not ;) Jo was putting evul thoughts in my head - but Denis's forum comment is intriguing me - "BTW a full announcment and details of Common Rotation's return to Belfast will be made in the next couple of days."

we know date/time/price/venue/age - what else do we need?
Jun. 10th, 2006 01:16 pm (UTC)
Re: answer...
Oh well. If they do, we should be alright arriving in Belfast around 2pm, shouldn't we? Let's just wait and see what Denis has to say, we can always change our plans accordingly.

Re: answer...
quietlychaotic is also being tempted by Glasgow and Belfast ...nothing to do with me in the slightest and if so may be roadtripping with us too. More the merrier! We are an army. Yay Now, what was the uniform? "Repeat offender" tshirts?!
Jun. 11th, 2006 09:30 am (UTC)
Re: answer...
Actually...do you think we could get some? That'd be wicked!
Jun. 11th, 2006 10:34 am (UTC)
Re: answer...
I would SO wear it!

..Or perhaps we should make it a big badge so we can wear it every night on outfit of our choosing?

Re: answer...
That's an idea! Let's look into it.
