Dad's home!

After having spent 4 nights on the heart monitor ward, Dad's back home safe and sound, if a little stiff because of the bruises he's sustained in his fall. Good! At least it means he won't wander off again any time soon.

Apie, his cat, was overjoyed to see him, and Dad, bless him, was overjoyed to see her too. He really missed her and worried about her while he was in hospital. Soppiness over cats definitely runs in our family.

Thanks! He'll have to go back to see the cardiologist next week, but they must obviously think he's well enough to spend some time at home in the meantime.

Good news. Let's hope he does learn from his bruises.

Apie, his cat, was overjoyed to see him, and Dad, bless him, was overjoyed to see her too.
That's so sweet.

Let's hope he does learn from his bruises.

Let's hope so; but frankly, I've got very little confidence that he will...

It really is very sweet to see how attached Dad and his cat are to one another. She's not really a people cat, but she's grown old and mellow with him and hates to be left alone.

The staff at the home will be keeping a close eye on him now -- they were very happy to see him again, and Dad is happy to be fussed over.

That's really good to hear! I was wondering how he was doing.

Soppiness over cats definitely runs in our family.

Runs in mine also. *pets kitty*

Just checking in and read the news about your dad. Glad he is home again, safe and sound, and hope he is able to take it easy, especially in this heat!

Hugs to you, my dear - take care of yourself and the moggies in the heat, and I'll talk to you soon!

Love,
Jules

This heatwave is hard on the cats, too. When I come home, I find them stretched out in the hall (the coolest room in the flat), conserving their energy. And they go through twice their normal amount of water a day, while their appetite seems to have gone completely.

They say the heat will last into the beginning of August...I wonder if there'll be thunderstorms on my birthday? That'd be cool -- Mum says I was born during the worst one she can remember.

It really was quite heartwarming to see their reunion...I always find it touching to see that bond between man and animal, when they've been together a long time.

Very good news. I bet your father recovers faster in familiar surroundings, too.

I'm sure he will, too. At least, now he won't have to worry about his cat anymore.

Thank you. He will have to take it easy for a while yet, but he's back in his own room, with his cat, where he's happiest.

Well, that's true...I think that's about the only good bit about being ill -- your cats will come and curl up with you, and seem to be so concerned and sollicitous for your welfare...and they'll just purr all day.
