GIP: new layout, old backgrounds

As the result of the many helpful hints and, in some cases, hands-on approach of my flist I received yesterday, my LJ now sports a brand spanking new and, dare I say it, utterly magnificent look, and I extend a heartfelt thankyou to everyone who's generously given of their time and expertise -- give yourselves a round of applause!

I feel it appropriate though to, for the moment, turn the attention to the backgrounds that have gone before, that after their spot in the limelight today will return to the anonymity of a space on my hard drive (which reminds me, perhaps I should burn them to cd sometime) - all are by bogwitch, btw.

First off, there was Drowning in Footwear, a gentle tease made up of my love of shoes and an appreciation for a certain blond vampire:

which after some time was replaced by the more blatant tease of Naked!Spike:

and finally, by the Common Rotation background that I'm retiring now:

I am so lucky in my flist!

In other news, I'm glad I decided not to fly out to the UK this weekend after all (even though it would have been fun to meet up again with some of you to go and see Beneva in concert) -- I don't believe the disruption at Heathrow and other airports will ease off soon. Though it had better be over with by the time the CoRo tour kicks off.

For now though, I'm off to the museum, in the pouring rain.

MWNN is flying to Dublin on Monday. He's not concerned, but I believe you're right in your caution.

The layout? It is looking rather nifty.

I just got an e-mail from Fly.be, to say that
"in light of today’s increased security alert across UK airports, if you are travelling today we ask for your patience while we try and get you to your destination. There are likely to be delays but we would ask that you please still check-in as normal.

Flybe, with immediate effect, will not charge passengers for hold baggage at airports, and will continue with this policy whilst Flybe deem the security risk to be heightened.

For those of you that may be travelling today, you can change the date of travel to another date within the next 14 days, subject to availability, at no charge. Online check-in is still available through flybe.com and is available within 24 hours of your departure." Very decent of them, I must say. Anyway, I hope MWNN will have an uneventful journey, without too many delays or upsets, on Monday.

I'm very pleased with the new layout. Are you through fiddling with the background now? Those swirls of colour are so pretty now.

I hope MWNN will have an uneventful journey,
He's planning to travel without any luggage. He'll be in Dublin only two nights (I'm off to Discworld Con next Thursday) nd says he's going to wear three pairs of undies and leave two there. I'm already creasing up at the thought of what he'll look like with all those extras on underneath his trousers. Socks he can buy easily in his size and he has his PJs and other stuff already over there.

Finished with the twiddling. I still can't get the swirls more visible and am disatisfied with the repeat joins but if you're happy to leave it as it is, that's fine.

The repeat joins are a bit of a stumbling block, aren't they? But the vagueness of the swirls suits me fine, I like the blending of the colours in this way...were you aiming for something more like bogwitch stark contrasts? I thought that's what I wanted at first too, but on reflection, I like that they are different.

He's planning to travel without any luggage.

Sounds like MWNN has experience with this sort of thing!

I've cured the repeat joins by rotating the image and pasting the resulting 'mirror images' together. I think it's worked.

I like the colours this way, they resonate the ones in the banner without being a complete carbon copy. I was going for atmospheric time travel movement. I softened the original image to enhance the swirling motion.

MWNN likes to travel light - it's a Clint thing.
