GIP: new layout, old backgrounds

As the result of the many helpful hints and, in some cases, hands-on approach of my flist I received yesterday, my LJ now sports a brand spanking new and, dare I say it, utterly magnificent look, and I extend a heartfelt thankyou to everyone who's generously given of their time and expertise -- give yourselves a round of applause!

I feel it appropriate though to, for the moment, turn the attention to the backgrounds that have gone before, that after their spot in the limelight today will return to the anonymity of a space on my hard drive (which reminds me, perhaps I should burn them to cd sometime) - all are by bogwitch, btw.

First off, there was Drowning in Footwear, a gentle tease made up of my love of shoes and an appreciation for a certain blond vampire:

which after some time was replaced by the more blatant tease of Naked!Spike:

and finally, by the Common Rotation background that I'm retiring now:

I am so lucky in my flist!

In other news, I'm glad I decided not to fly out to the UK this weekend after all (even though it would have been fun to meet up again with some of you to go and see Beneva in concert) -- I don't believe the disruption at Heathrow and other airports will ease off soon. Though it had better be over with by the time the CoRo tour kicks off.

For now though, I'm off to the museum, in the pouring rain.

I really like this new look. And as for travel - if I were you I'd book the boat!

The new look seems to be getting the thumbs up from everyone -- it's a definite winner!

Before the discount airline carriers, I always used to take the ferry -- but I'm not good on a boat. It's not that I don't have any sea legs, because I do; but I bore easily if I'm in a confined space. Besides, I've already paid for my tickets! Oh well, I expect it'll all have blown over by October...

Just listening to the news in the background -- how can the current situation be described as 'the most devastating terrorist attack ever launched in Britain', if the whole point of today's operation has been that the police and security forces have preempted the plot?

Because it sounds good? 'Could have been the most devastating....' is less 'in your face', I guess!

Yup, I suppose it's all about selling copy.

;-) at your icon!

I got the icon from someone who couldn't remember who made it, just that it was shareable - so feel free to copy if you want to!

Thanks, but...I already have too many icons than I know what to do with. Most of them just languish on my hard disk, and never see the light of day (so to speak).
