And I was trying to save up for October!

It was '15%-off-all-footwear-including-the-new-collection-if-you-pay-using-your-loyalty-card' afternoon at my favourite department store. There was no way I could resist that now, could I?

They are, aren't they, but they're also quite comfortable, which is why they had to be mine!

Pirate wedge boots for the win! Those are absolutely gorgeous. Are they as comfortable as they look?
Sep. 16th, 2006 04:28 pm (UTC)
Amazingly, they are! I did go to the store this afternoon thinking I'd come home with another pair I'd seen last week, a pair of flats; but despite the height, these turned out to be a lot more comfortable, so I changed my mind. ;-)

I'm still dithering about my next pair!

Sep. 16th, 2006 06:54 pm (UTC)
Hope you won't be dithering for long? What are the contenders like? And can you narrow it down?

One: high-heeled low ankle boot, beige or purple suede;
Two: Flat grey leather low ankleboot, with ties and wide shaft;
Three: Tall dark blue leather flat boot.
Four: Flat silver lace-up shoes
Five: Turquoise low-heeled loafer pump
Six: Bright blue medium-heeled pump.

Shall I go on?

We should (shoe-)shop together sometime soon!
Sep. 16th, 2006 10:55 pm (UTC)
I'd like that, I'like that very much. Perhaps I could help you come to a decision, and you could probably point out a few that are just right for me, too!

Wow, wow, WOW!!

They're like cavalier boots with a platform's strut.

Now, what will you wear with them? Skirt? Cropped pants?
Sep. 16th, 2006 07:08 pm (UTC)
Well, I was wearing jeans today, so that'll work...but I think they'll go very well with 3/4 length trousers or even knickerbocker-type ones, and skirts as well, esp. above-the-knee skirts in a sort of straight cut. I don't know about frilly. flowing skirts though, that might make it too PotC for my taste...what do you think?

Jeans are the perfect match. This season's knicker-bocker length would be good too, especially the narrow-cut style.

The full boot with a full skirt might be too much action! As you say, a straight-cut knee-length skirt would show off the boots, maybe with tights in a color to pull skirt and boots together.

Fantastic purchase! I'm glad to be living where I can wear boots again.

These look very comfortable - and very 'highwayman' as well - very nice.
Sep. 16th, 2006 07:15 pm (UTC)
I think I shall call them my Dick Turpin-boots...;-)
Sep. 16th, 2006 08:28 pm (UTC)
Oh, I can see you in those - they were just made for you! :)
Sep. 16th, 2006 11:00 pm (UTC)
I think they're going to be my favourite boots this winter; they're so comfy and so me ;-)
Sep. 16th, 2006 08:28 pm (UTC)
No I am not normally a 'shoe' sort of person, but I have to say these are very spiffing, sort of like pirate boots with wedges , very cute: )
Sep. 16th, 2006 11:01 pm (UTC)
They're really rather nice, aren't they?

I agree! ;-)

Oooo ... those are some terrific looking boots.

I'm going to have to do some serious boot-shopping soon, for a Minnesota fall/winter wardrobe (it doesn't snow or anything like it in Southern California, but it does in the Midwest!) and I've been bookmarking links to some nice-looking boots, but haven't actually started really shopping around yet. (Love the Zappos & Shoebuy sites for browsing.)

The key will be finding boots that are attractive and comfortable and withstand the weather. Not only that, but I'd need to get a whole new wardrobe and so have to think about what goes with what so I don't buy all new things that look pretty but don't work together!

The Zappos site is good, but a bit of a clutter...however, I've just had a little 5-minute browse there and I think < a href="http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/366596/c/4746.html">this boot</a> would be perfect for those Minnesota winters you mention. What do you think?
Sep. 17th, 2006 07:53 am (UTC)
They sound perfect based on the reviews, and I like the looks of them too. I've bookmarked that page!

I'm also plotting to get dressier boots with heels for when I won't actually be tromping in too much snow. Mmm ... there's a lot to browse through on that site.

Good luck with the search for a dressier boot! Anthropologie have some truly gorgeous examples, but they're far too expensive. Still, they could help give you some idea of what's out there, and then all you need to do is find a cheaper knock-off somewhere else.
