Vindication

On closer inspection, the scan I had last week revealed that I do have a certain amount of calcification and build-up of fluid in my achilles. It's gotten me an appointment with a doctor who specialises in sports medicine and who is, I'm told, extremely knowledgeable about that particular tendon, having made it his special area of expertise. I just hope he won't try and fob me off with another 10 sessions of PT.

I should never have let it get this far. I should have been more insistent from the start.

Out of interest, how did you get them to re-examine your scans? I have a vexing medical problem that I need answers to, I'd like to speak more strongly to the Dr, but I'm not sure how to go about it. :(

It wasn't hard: I just phoned them up, outlining my complaints and respectfully requesting they have a think as to what else it could be. It only took two of these calls for them to go back and reexamine the evidence more closely.

Yes, it is, isn't it? Perhaps now, in a couple of months, I'll have a chance to go "gammy leg? what gammy leg?"

I hope he can figure it out for you, but at least you've been vindicated.

Yay! So at least they are getting there when it comes to the reason you are in pain *phew*

Hopefully the specialist will have a good and lasting solution! I was actually fobbed off with 8 PT sessions, which hasn't really helped all that much.

All the best and I will keep my fingers crossed that he will be able to help you get rid of the problems and pain for good, or at least make it significantly better!

I've had the same experience. It helps some, to begin with, but then the sessions expire and the I'm just not good at keeping at it on my own.

Sometimes I wish they would just operate -- there mustbe something they could do. Hopefully I'll have some more idea of what that might be after I've seen that specialist on Thursday.
