If I were a martini, I'd say I was stirred

When the news broke that Daniel Craig would take on the role of Bond and a wailing was heard in some corners of the Bond-fandom, I was rather optimistic. I'd seen him before in only a handful of films, only remembered him from his roles in The Mother and Sylvia, and somehow believed he would do well. I've just come back home from seeing Casino Royale, and I must say, I'm not disappointed. The film is fast-paced, action-packed and entertaining, and Daniel Craig makes an utterly believable Bond. And an incredibly sexy one as well.

Roger Moore was the Bond I grew up with, and although I enjoyed the films in my youth, I never really cared about any new Bond-film when it came out, thinking it the ultimate cheese. When the films became all about the gadgets, I lost interest and I have to confess that for that reason, I have never seen any of the previous Bond's movies, and only one of the movies of the Bond before that (and yes, I do know their names are Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton). In fact, the only Bond-film that's ever left an impression on me was On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which lots of people don't even think deserves the title. But as far as I was concerned, it was the only one with a half-decent story and up until today, the only one at which I cried. Today's Bond reminded me of that quite a bit in that respect, of course. Poor Bond.

But oh! Daniel Craig in a tuxedo (and Daniel Craig out of a tuxedo)! I wonder if I can find some appropriate icons here somewhere?

Oh, yes. I'm ambivalent about a lot of the Bond films, but I loved the one with Daniel Craig. Although not classically handsome (IMHO) he's drop-dead sexy.

Well no, he isn't classically handsome, with those ears that stick out a little and that pouty lower lip, but my! he has got presence and he carries himself very well. Besides, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and when I look at Daniel, I definitely see a thing of beauty ;-)

Concerning Daniel Craig as Bond, I had no real opinion on him when the news broke he'd be the new Bond. Then I came to hate the whole Craig bashing so much!

In Munich he was doing a great job and hence I mentally joined the "pro Craig" group, mostly because I thought the aggressive Craig is not Bond campaign was disgusting.

I was oh so satisfied when the film came out and one great review joined the other.
Anyway, just like you I had nothing against the previous Bonds, but I too was never really all that interested when a new film came out. Now I am already looking forward to see what they are doing next.

Good luck finding a cool icon :)

I have a colleague who professes herself to be a massive Bond-fan. She's been very vociferous about boycotting this film, because 'Daniel Craig isn't a good enough actor...and he's blond'. Roger Moore is her favourite Bond, btw.

Roger Moore? Him of the Eyebrow School of Acting? And forgive me if I'm wrong, but...I seem to remember he wasn't exactly dark-haired either?

She will readily admit that she has never seen Daniel Craig in any other film, yet she believes he's not a good actor...Honestly, I don't understand how some people's mind works. I won't try and convince her. She's only denying herself a good night out by refusing to see the film.

Good luck finding a cool icon :)

I've found a few...now all I need is an opportunity to use them! ;-)

I once tried to watch Timothy Dalton in 'The Living Daylights' on video. I went into labour. I haven't been able to watch a Bond film since - they make me come out in a sweat and get stomach pains - honestly!

That has to be the most unusual reaction to any film I've ever heard. You win!
