And so another weekend draws to a close. Another weekend in which nothing much has happened; certainly nothing out of the ordinary, unless me breaking the blinds counts as such. As I'm having double glazing put in on Tuesday, I wanted to see how my blinds came off. I hadn't put them up, so I didn't know exactly how they were attached. Only one way to find out: I climbed on a ladder and started looking for clues. And then I started feeling for clues, or hooks, or... And then...then I started pulling the damn thing. And it came down. And it broke. Only then did I realise how I should have gone about it: I should have had two people pulling it from both ends simultaneously, with possibly a third in the middle. As things stand though, on Tuesday evening, I will have a lovely new expanse of window spanning the height and breadth of my flat -- but no blinds to cover it with. Damnit! These were bespoke ones, made to measure, and will cost me a small fortune to replace. A small fortune that I cannot spare, because...

...I'm going to New York! Indeed, I will touch down at JFK in 6 1/2 weeks! It's been 2 1/2 years since I've been there last and I need to see if it has changed. I'll be roaming its streets, checking out its shoe stores, sampling its bagels and slurping its coffee in the company of my travelling companion anonypooh between March 22nd and 29th. In our heart of hearts, we're hoping to catch a Common Rotation gig while we're there; but just in case they can't make it to NYC around that time, we'll be going to Philadelphia on the weekend and see them there. As I've never been to The City of Brotherly Love before, that's one particular outing I'm quite looking forward to.

And I'm going to New York in December, too -- clearly, I'm on a NYC overload this year. I don't know how it happened, but I'm quite happy that it did!

July, eh? Dress scantily. ;-)

Eee! I'm SO jealous. I keep trying to talk my BF into a trip to NYC and he's all sensible and insisting we have to go to England for a wedding! I'd rather go to NYC. :P

I can understand your frustration. But maybe, if you keep working on him...?

I can't believe I almost missed this.

You're coming to Philly? ::bats eyelashes::

I am! March 24th-25th; and it wouldn't it be fantastic if we could meet up for coffee and a chat while I'm there?

It would indeed! Also, I love playing tour guide, so I'd be happy to show you some of my favorite spots around town.

I've already marked my calendar. Yay!

Can't find one. I've checked every NYC communicity I could find. ::sulks::

Do the bespoke blind makers do repairs?

If they do, it's too late now: I've already had the binmen come and collect them.

Too bad about the blinds. But yay for NYC! I wish I could be there at the same time.

Aww. I wish you could be, too....but failing that, what are your plans for Dec/Jan? ;-)

awww... I'm jealous. I've only been to New York once (and only for 2 days) but that was enough to make me fall in love. ♥ And I expect a gig report, of course ;)

Of course I'll do a gig report - I'm looking forward to oh so casually typing up a report and letting slip that I'm in 'Philly' ;-)

Still...if we're talking of places we've never been -- I've never been to L.A. I've never seen Eric perform barefoot on Sta Monica Blvd or wherever it is he goes to busk. And what's more, I don't think I ever will get to see him do that, and it's extremely unlikely I'll get to California anytime soon, too...I ALWAYS seem to end up in New York!

Holy smoke, G - twice in one year in NYC?? That's awesome!

I still fondly remember going with you and Cass for the helicopter ride and the other stuff we did. That was a lot of fun, that entire visit... When will you be there, exactly?

Sounds like a great time in Philly as well, with the chance to see Eric and Adam again. Very nice!

Big hugs, sweetie!

with the chance to see Eric and Adam again.

And don't forget, Mr. Jordan Katz, horn and banjo player extraordinaire!

I'll be in NYC from the afternoon of March 22nd till the morning of the 24th, then move on to Philly, and come back on the 26th. I'll be leaving at 6:10pm on the 29th. What do you think -- do my plans afford you a window of opportunity?

Jules and I are planning to take in a show on/off Broadway this time, which is again something I've never done before (I've been to the ballet, but not to the theatre), and we're also keeping our fingers crossed that we won't leave it too late to get tickets to Snow Patrol & OK Go in Madison Square Gardens, but that sort of depends on what CoRo are thinking of doing after Philly.
