In the pink

My 13-year old niece has persuaded me to accompany her to a Pink concert here in The Hague on September 1st. Her mother thinks she's too young to go on her own, her older brother wouldn't be seen dead at such an event, and so she hit upon me as the answer to her predicament. Who can resist the puppy dog eyes a 13-year old can make? Well, her mother and her brother obviously, no doubt through long experience, but not me. I've just bought the tickets and the child is over the moon.

I'm feeling a bit under the weather today. I've come down with a cold and despite the sunny afternoon outside, have been shivering indoors all day. Also, I feel guilty about not having done the exercises Rutger has asked me to do this week, but I just haven't found a way to work them into my routine. There are one or two I can do without equipment, and I have done those, but the rest require the type of machinery to be found in a gym, and when have I got time to go to a gym? I leave for work at 7am, and I'm never home before 8pm. Besides, I'm not prepared to fork out for gym membership again -- I did that twice before, and after the first few weekends, never went again...but had to continue paying their fee for the next year or so.

To top off my tale of woe, a strike has been announced on the busses this coming Monday. Jobsworth has told us we are all responsible for making other arrangements to get to work on time, which is fair enough I suppose, although short of taking a cab, I don't see what I can do.

I hope that you've got something in to take for the cold - if you are poorly on Monday no-one will ever believe you :~(

Pink? It could have been a lot worse!

Could it? To be honest, I haven't a clue as to what genre of music Pink represents -- perhaps I'd better find out before September!

That's my worry, too. Especially since Jobsworth has called an after-hours meeting, and has made it mandatory for everyone to attend.

She actually writes some good lyrics - and is the person who did 'Stupid Girl' taking the piss out of the Paris Hiltons of the world.

Could certainly have been a lot worse.

Thanks! You're right, it could have been a lot worse -- I shouldn't have doubted my niece's common sense, really. I'm sure I could stand an hour and a half's worth of poppy rocky tunes like this.
