Bye-bye old, hello new shoes!

I decided to clear out my wardrobe of unwanted clutter, and actually managed to take two pairs of boots, that were still in good condition but that I didn't wear anymore; one pair of silver summer sandals that I never ever wore because the beaded elasticated top weave felt a bit too tight; and a pair of bronze coloured high-heeled slippers that had once got stuck between two paving stones and the leather on the heel thus damaged had come off to the charity shop collection bin next to the bottlebank, and with every clunk felt myself more satisfied.

Then I went straight into the nearest shoe shop and bought these:

They're pumps with ruffles! Horrible, yet strangely appealing; I simply had to have them.

I see what you mean. Not horrible exactly, but certainly not summery. (I'd call 'em "unusual, and must-have".)

You'll look cute wearing them next fall or winter, in a dark outfit.

Which, with the way the weather's been behaving lately, could mean tomorrow or the next day! ;-)

Oh, poor H! I picture you in a summer frock and strappy dandals, walking along a sunlit dike.

We're enjoying severe storms and half-dollar-sized hail here.

Oh dear!

April was good, April was nice and sunny and unseasonably hot, but May was a wash-out, and cold with it. June's started off okay, but it won't last -- the weatherman said a depression is on its way again and should be here tomorrow or the day after. And I was so looking forward to wearing my new London outfits to work this week!

*heehee!* They're CUTE! (And I'm not even a shoe fan)

So, are you now a huge fan of Paolo Nuttini? (sorry for the poor spelling)

I'm shoe-obsessed, so lots of footwear posts in this journal ;-)

And alas! I'm unfamiliar with Paolo Nuttini or-however-that-is-spelled.

Really? I thought you were quoting his song!

He's actually Scottish (!), and his song is called... "New Shoes" (seriously - check it out!):

New Shoes
Artist: Paolo Nutini
Album: These Streets

Woke up cold one Tuesday,
I'm looking tired and feeling quite sick,
I felt like there was something missing
In my day to day life.

So I quickly opened the wardrobe,
Pulled out some jeans and a t-shirt that seemed clean,
Topped it off with a pair of old shoes,
That were ripped around the seams,

And I thought, these shoes just don't suit me, so...

Hey, I put some new shoes on,
And suddenly everything's right,
I said, hey, I put some new shoes on, and Everyone's smiling, it's so inviting.

I'm short on money but long on time,
Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine,
I'm running late, but I don't need an excuse,
'Cause I'm wearing my brand new shoes.

Woke up late one Thursday,
And I'm seeing stars as I'm rubbing my eyes,
And I felt like there were two days missing,
As I focused on the time.

Made my way to the kitchen,
But I had to stop from the shock of what I found,
A room full of all my friends
Dancing round and round,
and I thought - Hello new shoes,
Byebye them blues!

Take me wondering through these streets,
Where bright lights and angels meet,
Stone to stone they take me on,
I'm walking to the break of dawn. (x2)

Haha! Well, I can certainly agree with the message in that - new shoes always make me feel better!

*G* And the title of your post made me think of this line in particular:

"Hello new shoes,
Byebye blues!"

Oh, those are fantastic!!! I have no idea what I would wear them with, but they are super fun!!

I have no idea what I would wear them with

I was thinking black leggings and a pop-art printed tunic, maybe.

Super fun -- yes, I think I would agree with that!

ooooooooh, I love them! :-)
