Back in January, my friend Allan and I pre-booked a trip to New York for January 2008. It was advertised as a special offer, and so we jumped at the chance. The travel agents got back to us and said they were very sorry, but that ad hadn't been meant to be published at that time, but if we were still serious about going, they would get back to us with an offer when they were ready to present the package (flights and hotel). And they did, this afternoon. But the price has gone up by 1,000 euros...each.

anonypooh, I might be able to take that ticket off you, after all.

what???? can they even DO that?!!! Their publishing early error isn't their problem and their loss? That's very unfair!

What are you going to do now?

.. ticket still there .. Lorna said she might think about it if you can't ... but if you can I'm sure she's not that bothered.

That's very unfair!

It is, isn't it? I'm all for cancelling the trip, or rather, cancelling this one and making my own arrangements instead, but I'll have to wait till I can talk to Allan about it...and he's in Gran Canaria for the next two weeks.

If Lorna wants the ticket, that's fine with me, too. Only when I know I definitely won't be in New York around that time will I claim first rights! ;-)

Talk about bait and switch! That's just wrong!

It is, and I'm certainly not going to agree to those terms.

What?! That's ridiculous!

It absolutely is. Unfortunately, Allan's off holidaying in Gran Canaria at the moment, or I'd cancel the booking today.

Ouch! In the US you could go to the Better Business Bureau and maybe even try the state Attorney General. Is there any agency you can try to bust them? That has scam written all over it.

I'm sure I could report them somewhere, but I think it might be easier to just cancel the booking and look for a better deal elsewhere.

And if they dare charge me cancellation costs, they can just whistle for 'em.
