Showing off my curtains (again)

Don't they just look sumptuous? I couldn't be happier with them, though it did feel rather strange this morning, to wake up and not know at a glance what the weather was like.

I'm really pleased to see how well they fit in with the rest of the decor, and I'm glad that even though I had something quite different in mind when I went into the shop, I dismissed that idea as soon as I was shown this bolt of fabric.

I think I'll be happy with this choice of curtains for years to come! Which is just as well, as they were rather more expensive than I had first optimistically budgeted for ;-).

I must admit, I was totally surprised to see how 'beautiful and rich' the finished article looked. It's difficult to imagine the end result when all you have to go on is a fleeting glimpse of a 140x70cm unhemmed fabric sample.

Now all I need to do is find bedclothes in these colours and my bedroom makeover is complete! ;-)

I agree they are lovely. New stuff in the house is always a huge improvement, as it reflects your changing tastes (or even just your ability to afford something nice for yourself!).

For me, it's definitely about being able to afford something nice, esp. as I've had to wait the best part of decade for it this time. My tastes, luckily, don't change all that often...My previous abode was styled in the 80s, with a black-white-grey colour scheme; and it was only the move to this flat that prompted me to ditch that scheme and go for something completely different, i.e. cream-vanilla-caramel, to which a few orange touches were added here and there over time; in which I've lived quite happily for the last 10 years. Now, with the addition of the curtains and blinds, I'm sure I'll continue not to make any great style changes for the next 10, either. ;-)
