The other day, I noticed that my sweet little kitty Leila was spending an awful lot of pennies. But as she was eating and drinking alright, and looks and acts just the same as always, I didn't think too much about it - until Easter Monday when I noticed that there was blood in her urine. But again, she looked just fine and the vet's was closed anyway, so I decided to leave it for a couple of days and see how she got on.

By Wednesday morning, she couldn't control the urge to pee for more than 2 minutes; it was doing my head in to watch her go back and forth, back and forth, so I made an appointment to see the vet that afternoon. I'd managed to catch a bit of liquid to show them what was worrying me so, but it turned out it wasn't enough to run an adequate analysis on. And because Leila had been emptying her bladder every 2 seconds the entire day, the vet couldn't really feel anything wrong there, either.
Still, she agreed with me that it was not nothing; that her discomfort could be indicative of an infection or even struvite stones, and so she provided me with several packets of diet cat food clearly labelled 'FREE SAMPLES', and charged me 64 euros, 71 eurocents for them.
She also asked me to bring round a bigger urine sample as soon as possible.

Which I did, last night. Don't ask me how I got it; you do not want to know! She put one drop under the microscope (even less of the stuff than I'd brought with me the day before), had a glance, and said: "Struvite stones. That'll be 12 euros 50, please".

I'm in the wrong line of work.

Meanwhile, my cats refuse to touch the diet food. I can't blame them: it looks awfully bland.

re: Ka-chingg!
Hi G -

That's too bad about Leila! What if you sprinkled some catnip on the food? Maybe that would entice her to eat it.

Just wanted to tell you to have a good weekend. Are you doing anything fun? I have a colonial dance gig tonight, a memorial service for a friend's sister tomorrow morning that I'm playing at, a music rehearsal on Sunday, and a surprise 40th birthday party for someone Sunday evening. I told my husband not to expect to see much of me this weekend lol!

Take care - talk to you Monday.

Sounds like you'll be busy this weekend! Me, not so much; at least, I haven't got anything special planned. Been quite busy the last few weekends so am kind of looking forward to just curl up on the sofa with a good book, or something. Besides, I've got to keep an eye on Leila!

Have a good weekend, and I'll try that trick with the catnip...good thinking!
