Woe is me

As if it isn't enough that CoRo and David Berkeley have changed their venues in virtually every city they'll visit on their European minitour, after I've taken such care to find and book hotels close to their previous but now cancelled venues...

Without warning, my Creative Zen Touch 20Gb gave up the ghost today. I've tried rebooting it, reloading the firmware to it, and finally in desperation reformatting it, but it just. won't. work. So I sought to replace it, only to find that it's been discontinued, and has been replaced in all the shops (high street as well as online ones) by 1-8Gb HDD mp3-players...or 20Gb mediaplayers, to which you can download photos and videos. But I don't want photo and\or video functionality! I just want a 20, or better yet, 40Gb mp3-player! Why can't I find one?

so long as Glasgow does not become Edinburgh! If it helps any I'm as jealous as hell over Paris ..no matter what the metro adventures!... I wonder if Travelodge will concede that asking to move to Kings Cross is not actually a cancellation?..maybe worth a go?

Sorry to hear about your mp3..I dread the day! Have you googled iriver at all and seen what they currently offer? I loooove mine. You knew that.

I did look at iRiver offers earlier (I've always liked yours, as you know)...and it's the same story: I can either choose an mp3-player with limited disk space, or a large disk mediaplayer which I won't be able to use a large part of the space of because it's set aside for video and stills. It's so strange.

Bummer. I'm sorry your mp3 player isn't working. There are so few players that will just handle music anymore. I will say that I love my iPod nano, though.

I have an inexplicable and unreasonable aversion to iPods, but have loved my Creative from the off. I just can't understand why they won't do a 20MB player anymore...what good is 1 or 2 MB if you've got close to 10,000 songs to upload?

D-d had a similar problem when her MP3 player died a few months ago - I think she bought this one in the end.

Yep. That's mine. Amazon currently has 1 used (but ostensibly good as new) one for sale. Not sure that I want 2nd hand, but a £129 for a new one is more than I paid for it originally over a year ago.

Go look at number 3 icon - at leat I think it was number 3, but you'll see which one I mean, anyway!

Well...I may not know anything about Discworld, but I sure do like that icon! Thanks for pointing me in its direction. :)
