I forgot to print off my hotel reservation confirmation voucher for Paris.
It said in the accompanying e-mail, which I did print off, that failure to present the Confirmation/Accommodation Voucher at the hotel reception may result in being charged directly by the hotel, as the Confirmation/Accommodation Voucher is the only accepted proof of payment in advance. So why did I forget to follow the link and print it off? Because I'm an idiot, that's why.
I've spent the morning working out my itineraries from the bus station to my hotel, from the hotel to the venue (and back), and from the hotel to the airport in the morning; but I'm afraid I won't be entirely at ease until I've touched down on familiar British soil again. Although I love to travel and see the world, I always find it such a relief to find myself somewhere where I don't have to resort to sign language to make myself understood and where I can follow directions without the fear of getting hopelessly lost because I've missed some crucial clue.
It's not going to be so bad this time, though. I do speak French after a fashion, having been taught it in school; and I understand the French speak much better English these days, too. I'll be fine, I know I will.
