Not dead, but not far from it

OK, that's an exaggeration. But I do feel pretty crappy, though not in the more usual for this time of year's 'I think I may be coming down with something'-sense. Instead, I'm feeling crappy because for the past 7 weeks I've been in constant pain. And have characteristically tried to ignore it, thereby probably compromising the healing process. Unfortunately, my determination to carry on with my work and usual routine hasn't found favour with Jobsworth, who gave me another bollocking yesterday, the second one in as many weeks. I can't deny that I have lost concentration and productivity (I can't argue with his stat sheets), but I can't convince him that I am working as hard as my injury will allow. All day long, he was on my case, nagging me and demanding an explanation whenever I was taking a 2-minute break -- and the stupid thing is, I did respond by pushing myself even harder, with the result that by the end of the day, I couldn't use my arm at all. The pain kept me up most of the night (as it has done most nights since I was hit by that bus, but last night was particularly bad) and this morning, I'd had enough. I went back to my GPs, in the hope that they would prescribe me some strong painkillers that would allow me to carry on with my job. Instead, they've given me another batch of anti-inflammatories and strict orders for absolute rest (i.e., no going to work) over the next 10 days. After which, they want to see me again. If by then, the situation has improved, I can ease back into work; if not, they mentioned something about corticosteroid injections...::shivers:: Let's hope it won't come to that.
