Mum update

Mum was transferred to a specialist care unit yesterday, to aid her in her recuperation through extensive sessions of physio and the like. She's doing really well, and will probably be discharged some time next week. She still has the hiccoughs, but her doctors are hopeful they'll subside gradually as the post-operative swelling lessens. Let's hope they're right. Even if she knows full well that without the surgery she would over time have lost the use of her legs, its greatest appeal and advantage lay in the assertion that it would get rid of her 'tic', as she calls it.

And so September's here again. Another summer's passed with hardly any sun at all, and the sandals and slingbacks I bought earlier this year, as well as the ones purchased last year and the year before, are still packed away in their boxes.

may the hiccoughs be bannished!

Oct 22nd is when I'll be crossing the pond...although it's all bought and paid for, I'll be a lot happier going if I'm back in work by then. Things seem to have sort of ground to a halt on that score though, which is quite worrying. Bloody credit crunch!

Anyhoo, quite exciting times for you now, off to the US of A soon! Do have a marvelous time!

la la la when is your flight home????
Sep. 1st, 2008 08:12 pm (UTC)
The 28th. It's only a short stay...and only the one city!

dammit .. you are like me!.. missing CoRo by hours :( .. but I get a second chance .. fingers crossed you do too!

Have you thought more about getting into temp work? money whilst you keep looking? win win?

Indeed, I have...but they don't seem to be able to use me. I'm too highly qualified/too expensive/too specialised/too whatever else they can think of. It's very disheartening.

So for a fixed hourly rate that you've agreed to take, they end up with a bargain? - what they whinging about?! jeez. Maybe they are too intimidated with that superslick CV. Do you rewrite it a bit to fit each role you give it in for? Not lie on it! - Just tinker around the edges?
Sep. 2nd, 2008 08:07 am (UTC)
Yes, yes, I do tinker with it constantly; though mainly it's just a case of where to place the emphasis. I'll get it exactly right one of these days, I'm sure.

and yay thankee - just 3 more days to wait!!! And yay - rain forecast .. lol (just incase I was missing it!) Can't wait!!
Sep. 1st, 2008 08:52 pm (UTC)
But it's New York rain -- surely that's a lot less dreary than English rain?

Besides, remember what th weather was like when we were there? They forecast snow and ice and god knows what kind of horrors, and it was lovely!

mmm warm rain - you are so right!

plus rain = shops? ;)

you'd never beleive it - the day after we arrive in NYC - Lisa lands in London! (from China though) - and Nawaz is over here too apparently. Timing!!

Lisa lands in London

Oh that's too bad! It would have been wonderful to have had a chance to catch up with her, and hear all about her exciting new life in Beijing...Next time, eh?

Thanks for the update.
Sep. 4th, 2008 05:58 pm (UTC)
De nada.
Sep. 2nd, 2008 06:46 pm (UTC)
That's good news for you mum. I can't imagine how annoying it is to constantly hiccup.
Sep. 4th, 2008 05:58 pm (UTC)
It's absolutely exhausting. She hardly has any energy left for anything else, and her garden (she used to be a keen gardener) is testament to that.
