Berlin ist eine Reise wert!

A friend of mine called first thing this morning, and asked if I fancied accompanying him on a trip to Berlin. His previous travel companion had had to cancel, and now he had an extra train ticket going spare. I thought about it for a split second, but really, what was there to think about? Woo-hoo, I'm going to hit the road again!

I'll be in Berlin from the 17th till the 21st.

The next call was from Diageo. They gave me a thorough grilling over the phone, then ended the interview by inviting me up to Amsterdam to take part in the next stage: an assessment round (IQ tests and role play). Looks like this is going to be one of those lengthy application processes...

Yay, Berlin! Let me know if you need sightseeing tips or even if you'd like to meet up for coffee or something!

And good luck with the assessment round. :)

See, insider knowledge, that's just what I need! I would love to meet up for coffee or lunch or something if it can be arranged to fit your schedule, so I'll definitely be in touch soon.

Argh, I'm so late with replying lately, sorry.

I don't know if I'll be able to give "insider knowledge", but maybe more interesting tips than tourist guide books, at least? ;) And I'd love to shuffle my schedule around to make room for meeting up! (Ahaha, I'm such a social butterfly. Soon I'm going to need an assistant. :| ) Just let me know what you want to know and when you want/have time to meet. :)

Well, my travelling companion has been very diligent in listing all the sites he wants to go and see:

- Bodemuseum
- Neue Nationalgalerie
- Gedankstatte Berliner Mauer
- Rathaus Schoneberg
- Hufeisensiedlung
- Schloss Bellevue
- Funkturm?

while I have only thought of perhaps paying a visit to the Filmmuseum in the Sony Center...mostly I just want to wander round the shops and relax a bit; so I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to come and meet you.

We're set to arrive on the 17:17 train on the 17th (Hauptbahnhof), and then we'll make our way to our respective hotels. His was fully booked so I'm now booked into the Generator on Storkower St, which claims to be a 'fantastic funky hostel with a great design' -- but most importantly, it offers 24 hr Internet access!

Awesome! Have a great time!

And good luck with the interview process. It does sound lengthy!

It does sound lengthy!

Which means I'll have plenty of time and opportunity to look at other companies...I'm not going to make the mistake of putting all my eggs in one basket like I did a couple of years ago...

My friend works for Diageo here, just thought I would mention that :)

They do sound like a fun company to work for, from their information pack at least. So I will jump through the next hoop, but I won't build my hopes up just yet.

And I'm sure I'll have a good time in Berlin -- just hope I can have it on a shoestring budget because don't forget, I'm off to NYC next month ;-)!
