All set

I spent a sleepless night after a worrisome few days, because this morning was set aside for the 'arbeidsvoorwaardengesprek', or the negotiations over salary and benefits between the prospective employee and employer. This means that for days I'd been busy calculating my worth and reading up on such mundane but ultimately very important things like pensions and health insurance premiums and bonusses of every kind. Never much of a one with a head for figures, I gave up in disgust more than once, but some of it must have stuck because the deal I managed to come out of the negotiations with is very nearly that of the ideal outcome I'd had in mind. The contract will now be drawn up according to our agreement, ready for my signature next week, and I can go and have a nap now.
