Portrait of a lady...well, me

A photographer had been hired not only to take pictures of last week's party in full swing, but also to take everyone's portrait as they walked in. They say the camera never lies so this one is telling me never to put so much makeup on again:

I think you look nice!

Yes, but don't you think I look slightly orange as well?

I didn't think so... but I'm also not familiar with your every day look. :)

Let's just say it's a lot less colourful than this. It's not that I think I look hideous covered in all that makeup, it's just that I'm not used to seeing myself like that.

You should have some idea of my everyday look -- we traipsed around Liverpool together that one day some years back, remember?

Wow, so it's taken me FOREVER to reply to this, but I do remember! ;)

Feb. 3rd, 2009 08:41 pm (UTC)
What are you talking about? I think you look incredibly glamorous!
Feb. 3rd, 2009 09:12 pm (UTC)
Ah, that'll be the stole. I've had it in my wardrobe for ages, now I've finally had an occasion for wearing it!

Feb. 3rd, 2009 08:57 pm (UTC)
I don't see makeup - you look good.
Feb. 3rd, 2009 09:14 pm (UTC)
Thank you. But you know how it is, no one ever likes their pictures...
Feb. 3rd, 2009 10:41 pm (UTC)
I think you look rather glamorous!

What, like D-d in your icon? Her picture reminds me of one of those pinups of moviestars of the 30s and 40s my mum used to keep -- very stylish!

Nice fur — looks like seal!
And you look lovely. Make-up can look different under different light. Sometimes what looks too much in one light will be fine in another.

looks like seal!

Does it really? It's a fake, though.

I do wear fur, but only if it's a by-product of the meat industry. I don't agree with the idea of breeding and keeping animals for their fur; but I tend to see it differently when their meat is eaten, their bones made into glue, their skin turned into leather and their fur turned into hats and coats.

Why? I think you look great!
Feb. 4th, 2009 06:54 pm (UTC)
Thank you. The unease is wearing off now...
Feb. 4th, 2009 01:02 am (UTC)
Nice picture! Your hair looks so vibrant!
Feb. 4th, 2009 06:57 pm (UTC)
Thank you; that's probably because of the way the lighting was set up -- at least, I don't think it's that vibrant in normal daylight conditions.
Feb. 4th, 2009 02:47 am (UTC)
Wow, G, very glam! You look very good in the pic!
Feb. 4th, 2009 06:59 pm (UTC)
Hee Jules! So do you in your icon!
Feb. 4th, 2009 03:02 pm (UTC)
Glamorous is the perfect word...
Feb. 4th, 2009 07:00 pm (UTC)
Well, it seems to be the consensus, anyway...
Feb. 4th, 2009 03:54 pm (UTC)
I think you look great, but you are right about no one ever liking their pictures. I find that I tend to like a picture better when I go back and look at it a few years later. Also, any time you do something that is different from your normal (make up) you won't look the way you picture yourself.
Feb. 4th, 2009 07:07 pm (UTC)
Very true. It's not every day I'm dressed and made up to the nines, and seeing the end result recorded for posterity...it just startled me, is all.
Feb. 4th, 2009 09:06 pm (UTC)
The flash appears to be quite low down. However, I do second all the comments on how glamorous you look!

The flash appears to be quite low down.

Ah! That must be what's bugging me! Thanks.
