30 Day Music Meme: Day 25

Day 25: An acoustic song you love

Not only acoustic, but a cappella as well: Hildegard von Bingen's Ave Generosa as sung by contralto Margaret Philpot on the 1981 Gothic Voices cd A Feather on the Breath of God, probably my favourite example of ars antiqua (a music genre popular in the 11th and 12th centuries).

Day 26- A song by your favorite band
Day 27- A song you make fun of
Day 28- A song that reminds you of your boyfriend/girlfriend (if you don’t have one, make one up :])
Day 29- A song currently stuck in your head
Day 30- A song that you haven’t listened to in awhile

I have no words to express how immensely satisfying I thought last night's conclusion to Doctor Who was. It may not have answered the question as to why there were no ducks in Leadworth's duck pond, but then, I never thought it mattered. It was good to see though, that jacket!Doctor wasn't down to a continuity error after all. And it made me very happy to see the Doctor dancing at Amy's wedding. The Doctor, dancing!

I can't do meta as other people in the fandom can; my thoughts on television shows, even the ones I like more than any others, don't tend to run that deep...so I'll just finish by saying that I have thoroughly enjoyed both the writing and the acting in this last series, and am looking forward to seeing Amy, Rory and Eleven again this coming Christmas.

The England vs. Germany game has just kicked off, but I'm not that interested in watching: neither team have really impressed so far and I'm indifferent as to which one of them will go through this afternoon. I am glad though that Ghana won their match against the USA yesterday; as they are the only African team still remaining in the competition, I think it will give a tremendous boost to the sport in the whole of the continent.

I missed the Netherlands' game on Thursday as I had a friend round for dinner; but I understand that again they didn't show any of the wonderful 'total football' they displayed in the qualifying stages. They'll be playing against Slovakia tomorrow, and I'm seriously worried they might not progress any further, if only because over the last few days every commentator and football analyst have expressed their opinion that Holland easily outclasses 'football midget' Slovakia, and pooh-pooh the fact that that 'football midget' eliminated reigning world champions Italy last week. That's tempting fate, and I don't like it.

Surely there were no ducks in the duck pond because the ducks had been absorbed by the/a crack? Like people I'll not name here in the vague hope of not saying anything too spoilery?

Questions were left unanswered, but I don't think that was one of them.

I loved it, but I think it's a shame we didn't get to find out more about how Rory spent his time.

Why would ducks in a duck pond some way away from a crack in the wall of Amy's house be absorbed, but no other species of bird or animal in and around the town? If it was that powerful, shouldn't it have erased everything in its vicinity, including Amy?

Why wouldn't Amy's aunt get absorbed as well? Presumably she came to Amy's room at *some* point, even if she didn't care much about Amy.

It didn't need to be that *particular* crack, either, though. And we don't know what else from Ledworth disappeared, because it was simply never commented on.

I'm not convinced. But as I said, the whole conundrum of the missing mallards never mattered to me. It's Doctor Who after all, and I'll enjoy it even if it doesn't always make too much sense on closer scrutiny.

Thank you so much for the link to the music - I do like medieval music.

Thank you! I like that you like medieval music, too. I've been thinking, maybe I should put up a few more posts of that, after the meme finishes. There's such a wealth of great music out there, that I'm not sure that many people on my flist have easy access to.
