Spain-Germany: 1-0

Once again, Paul the Psychic Octopus picked the right box: Sunday's final will be a test between two nations who have never yet won the World Cup, and who've never yet played against each other in either the World or the European championships. Whoever wins it will cover themselves in undying glory. But if Spain brings that same level of organisation, technical skill and tenacity as they showed in today's match against Germany to the final, then our side are going to have their work cut out keeping them from laying their hands on that trophy.

My first thought at the end was 'kudos to the octopus'... I think I would rather have seen the Germans win - and I will definitely be supporting your lads in the final.

Now... how do we bribe the octopus?

By finding it a lady octopus, perhaps? Maybe just showing it a picture of one will do...

I would have liked to see the Germans go through, too, because when it comes to football, there's always been some friendly rivalry going on between our two nations and so beating the German side means more to us than any other; while at the same time I'm pleased for Spain that they won last night. They were quite simply the better team.

If Oranje can find a way to breach Spain's defences while not sacrificing their own too much, they may have a chance of lifting that trophy at the end.

I love Paul!

Also: if I forget to say it later on: good luck to the Netherlands! Hup, Holland, hup!

Thank you! Let's hope they'll listen to you ;-)
