I fail to see how the new feature of cross-posting comments to Twitter and Facebook add value to LiveJournal, and I won't be making use of it. I wonder if it's a sign though, that LJ is worried for its future; and if it is, does that mean I should be? Should I get a DreamWidth-account, just to be on the safe side?

I think it is beyond rude to post something from someone else's journal anywhere without their permission.

Hear, hear -- and from what I can gather of the storm of protest that's gone up, most other LJ-posters and -commenters feel the same way. Which gives me hope that things won't actually get out of hand.

You know I'm the world's least active FB'er. I can't see the point to it really, and therefore don't bother with it much. LJ, OTOH, is my space where I feel comfortable enough to express myself; and I don't want to have to go anywhere else and start again -- I tried that some years ago with GreatestJournal and InsaneJournal, over some other kerfuffle, and found I couldn't be bothered, really...

FB is superficial, but has its uses. I use it mostly for contact with people from home who I don't see anymore, and for organizing things with local friends. LJ is my online home and where my friends are.

It does seem to me that many people use LJ, FB and Twitter for completely different purposes and want to keep it that way.
