30 Day Movie Meme: Day 09

I'm stuffed. We (Mum, my sister, her two youngest and me) went out to dinner with Mum's deceased second ex-husband's brother who's come back from New Zealand for what will probably be his last visit to the country of his birth, as he's in his eighties now. The last time I and my sister had seen him was 19 years ago, so there was a lot of catching up to do. Of course, he wants us to come and look him up in Whitby which I understand is near Wellington soon; and I wish I could have made him a definite promise, but unless I find employment it's highly unlikely I'll scrape enough money together to buy a ticket any time within the next 100 years.

Moving on to day 9 of the movie meme, and it's time to choose my candidate for best scene ever. It was very hard to pick a winner out of the undoubtedly thousands of scenes I've seen, made harder by the fact that I couldn't decide what criteria to apply, so in the end I went for a scene that, because I'm a sentimental old fool, moved me the first time I saw it, and still does: the wolf Two Socks taking food from the hand of Lt. John Dunbar in

It's a very touching scene, and an ominous one too, as in the end Two Socks' taming will lead directly to his death (ignore the Russian overdub; I couldn't find another upload of the scene on YouTube).

Ooh, I don't know; I'll have to ask Mum as I'm guessing they're still exchanging Christmas cards...All he told me about Whitby last night was that he could get the best fish & chips down by the shore, where they'd always give him one extra fish for the dog ;-)

Hmm, that would probably down by the Mana bridge.... there's a fish'n'chip shop next to the beach.

I'm sure that's where it must be then...though that doesn't answer your original question :-) I'll let you know when I find out.

Two Socks makes me weep.

And me! I don't know how they could have trained that wolf to act that well, so I'm inclined to believe he's just a natural.
