I've started so I'll finish

I'm actually starting to get bored of this 30 Day Movie Meme, even though it seemed like a fun thing to do in the beginning; and a great way of masking the fact that I haven't had much of a life to be getting on with these last few months. But I've started so I'll finish...and today I've reached the halfway point: Day 15 - Best musical.

I wouldn't like to say that this is the best musical ever, as there are far too many good ones to choose from; but The Wizard of Oz certainly is one of the earliest and most impressive musical films I've ever seen. As a child, I loved -and identified most with- the Cowardly Lion, while the Flying Monkeys scared me half to death, and as for the Wicked Witch...she was truly terrifying, even more so when I saw her green face (our parents didn't get a colour TV until my sister and I were well into our teens, and we never had more than one television set in our house, which wasn't unusual then but, judging by their reaction when they find I do not have a telly in the bedroom, strikes some people as highly eccentric these days).

Day 16 - Your guilty pleasure movie

Day 18 - Favorite title sequence

Day 30 - Saddest death scene
Day 31 - Scene that made you stand up and cheer

My kids wouldn't know what to think of having 1 12 inch black & white TV in the house. They don't understand why I don't have 1 in my room. If I want to watch it, there is a very nice TV in the living room.

If I want to watch it, there is a very nice TV in the living room.

Which is very much my attitude as well. I like to keep my bedroom for sleeping in. Of course, I don't have to share my living space with anyone but my cats, and they rarely want to watch anything; but I like to think that if I did, I still wouldn't have one at the foot of my bed.

My current (colour) TV is a 17" flatscreen which when it replaced my old 12" set looked gigantic in its corner. I'm used to it, but when people come round and they want to watch something, they generally need to adjust themselves to the distance between my comfy couch and what they consider to be a small screen which is set up over 5 metres away.

My kids both have their own TVs in their rooms, but Meranda likes to watch in the living room. She gets mad if there is a conflict over what to watch and I tell her to go watch her own TV because her TV is "small."
