Four more years

As the BBC had kept reporting how much of a close-run race this American presidential election was going to be in the days leading up to it, it was kind of reassuring to wake up to the news this morning and find out that the world hadn't changed that much, after all. I only hope that Obama will get a chance to make good on his promise that the best is yet to come, though I fear the Republican majority in the House of Representatives will continue their policy of obstructionism and point-scoring for a while yet.

Our opposition threw such a huge hissy fit at losing - it's been going on for two years now, and has only really abated in the last month after the smackdown given to their leader by the PM in Parliament. It's still hard to get legislation through, but she's achieved a LOT in the face of an unrelenting tantrum by the Tories of this country. I hope the Repubs can get over it so they can solve the problems the US faces quickly.

Go Julia. I don't always agree with her but she's making some positive changes.
