Yes or no?

As you may or may not know, I will be going to a fan event this June. It will be held at the Split Rock Resort, in PA somewhere, and a number of the BtVS cast members will be there to smile, shake hands, sign autographs and do whatever else they're wont to do at such gatherings. And they're also doing photoshoots. For which tickets will become available on Monday.

JM is going to be there. And he's going to be doing a photoshoot, too. For which there will be 200 tickets available. Which means that if I want a picture with him and me in it as a souvenir of the occasion, I'm going to have to decide pretty damn quick.

Now, the question is whether I can set aside my usual snobbish attitude for 2 minutes and allow myself to sign up for it; or chicken out entirely and end up kicking myself when I'm there, having travelled halfway around the world to see him in the flesh.

Thankfully, there is a possibility of having more than 1 person in the picture with him. Maybe even as many as 3 people, although that has to be cleared with the organisation first. But as luck would have it, I'm going to be there with julchek and calove, and if I can get them to agree to the idea, then maybe I will come away from this convention with a memento yet without my friends and family thinking I've gone barmy and calling for the ambulance.

Go for it. It's an amazing experience and James is so good at giving people their moment with him.

Yes, but it seems like it's going to be an either/or thing: either a me&him, or a me&him&otherpeople picture.

So do I go for safety in numbers, or all sweaty and nervous and red and unable to utter a single word in any language under the sun let alone any recognisable form of English in a of him and me together?

Oh, the onus of choice!

If I had the opportunity and money I'd do it in a heartbeat.

There's a good chance that you may run into him 20 yaers from now in the local grocery store but A. Who cares by then and B. You won't have THIS momento.

I wish! But not unless he moves to Europe...

20 years from now? We may even meet in that old people's home! LOL!

Do it. And do it alone. You won't be the only fan who's nervous. He's really cool. And gives good hugs. Seriously. Do it or you'll regret it.

I'm doing it! I'm doing it...or rather, we're doing it. It was an either/or deal, and we decided that we really liked the thought of a picture of the three of us with James better than that of three separate ones of us with James.

The reason for this: when we meet in PA, we'll have been on-line best friends for almost 2 years, and we would never have met if it hadn't been for Spike. Our first (but hopefully not last!) time together simply must be commemorated by a photo of us all with the alter ego of our most beloved vampire!

Do it!

Yes ma'am!

Joining the "do it and do it alone" crowd. Really. He's very nice and friendly, and it'll be a breeze on the day - believe me on this :)

I believe you! I have every confidence that things will not be awkward, unless...my God! what am I going to wear?

Go for it, G! You'll regret it if you don't. And when you do do it, I want to hear all about it. We all do!
Jan. 12th, 2004 05:16 am (UTC)
You don't think I could keep it to myself, do you? I'll be going on and on and on about it for weeks, you'll be begging me to change the record!
Jan. 12th, 2004 05:24 am (UTC)
No, no, I'll want all the details -- what he was wearing, what you were wearing, (what boots you were wearing!), the exact shade of his eyes, did your tummy get that whoopsie feeling when he smiled, and More and MORE!!!
Jan. 12th, 2004 05:30 am (UTC)
Oh, I know just what you mean! Leave it to me...we sent julchek on her own there last year and she was hopeless. All she could remember was what she said and what he said in response, but not a word about how his handshake felt, what he smelled like, all the important things we were dying to know having to live the experience through her vicariously!
Jan. 12th, 2004 05:48 am (UTC)
Oh, what he smells like...

:: swoons ::

Now, in my defense, I was very nervous before I met him, and I was lucky to be able to speak at all, let alone sniff him and other minute details ;-)

Suffice it to say, he has wonderful arms, his eyes really are as blue as they appear to be, his voice has that delicious chocolate sound we've often talked about, he was nice and warm, and it was comfy leaning into his shoulder for my picture.

Now, are you sure you don't want to change your mind an get your picture alone with him, G? Last chance...
Jan. 12th, 2004 07:18 am (UTC)
No, that's OK...Like I said, I really like the idea of the 3 of us in the picture with James; and I can always knock you and Cass out if I decide otherwise on the day!
