All set

I went out into the gales and driving rain on Saturday, to take care of some stuff in town, pick up cinema tickets and meet friends for tea and scones at Scallywags, the hub of UK ex-pat social life in The Hague. Undoubtedly due to the atrocious weather, there were very few people about, and when I glanced into a travel agent's office on my way from getting from point A to point B, I noticed that the brightly-lit place was entirely deserted, and the two girls manning the desk were trying very hard to find things to do to make themselves look busy. So I took pity on them and decided to give them some work. 40 Minutes later, it was all sorted, and I was 600 euros the poorer.

I'll be flying into New York in 4 months time, and staying for a week and a half. And I'm praying that no al-Qaeda security threat will crop up and throw a spanner in the works as far as my travel arrangements are concerned. If it does though, then George Bush and the might of the American army will be the least of Osama's worries.

(The movie we went to see? The Human Stain, starring Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman. Beautiful. Nothing much happening, but very impressive nonetheless).
