So long, and thanks for all the fish!

It was db2305 broke the news to me yesterday, when I went round to hers for dinner and another night of Angel-watching, that this current season is the series's last. We agreed that it was a pity, but not the end of the world.

In my case: I never cared much for Angel or his crew to begin with, and only started watching this season's offerings because Spike had come into the mix, and Spike was the reason I'd watched BtVS previously. In recent months, I have enjoyed Angel for more than just the Spikey bits, though; and I did think the series had improved a lot...so: bye-bye Angel, thanks for a wonderful season, and hope to catch you on re-run soon.

As for Spike: I expect I'll not miss him too much, not as long as our talented fanfic writers carry on writing and publishing stories about him -- and with the demise of the series, there's no end to where their imagination may take us. I don't expect the fandom will peter out any time soon, and I'm sure I'll keep in touch with all the wonderful people I've met and connected with through my interest in two very enjoyable TV series over the last year and a half. I love you all.

Yeah. It's the people who'll really make me stick around. I've skirted around the edges of fandoms before. This is the first I really participated in though. The people have been wonderful and interesting and talented. I can't say how much I've enjoyed the community feel. I've re-discovered my muse, and that means so much to me. I don't the show to end, but it has to someday.

I will always think of my getting hooked on BtVS as a good thing, as it got me in touch with a wonderful group of people on the internet, many of whom I've come to regard as friends. But as to the series itself, and its spin-off, we always knew that these were going to end one day -- it's just a pity it's happened sooner rather than later.

However, I expect the fandom to carry on for a while longer, until inevitably it too will fade away...and maybe then, I'll finally start acting my age as my sister keeps telling me I should (I made the mistake of telling her I was going to go to a convention in America this summer, based on the fact that she had installed a Spike screensaver on her PC. Boy, did she not understand! My sister, BTW, is younger than me).

Who the hell wants to act their age? People who are no fun that's what. Growing up is severely overated.

I remember that when I was about 11 or 12, I desperately wanted to be grown-up. I thought that if I were, I'd have all the answers.

Thirty years later, not only do I not have all the answers, what's more: I don't care. So growing up? Not all that important to me anymore!

Getting older is compulsory; growing up is optional. Growing up turned out not to be all it was cracked up to be, so I've regressed and happy to have done so! Telling a new friend about my Spike adiction and the trip to MR had us both rolling about in giggles yesterday. She said "Look at you! You look about 16!". Fine by me. Good to be a happy combination of giddy teen and sensible, experienced 40 something when necessary. Youth is wasted on the young. And here ends today's string of maxims (maximums? maxima? Never did latin...)

But me, I'm going to miss Spike... horribly...

...maybe we should try and bring him home with us in June, then. I mean, it's not as if he's needed by the WB anymore...

AWW THis is the last sesion? All the good shows are ending. Angel could of stayed on some more, there are no good shows left. Are they planning on doing a show with just Spike?

No, I don't think so. Not yet, anyway. It seems everyone involved in the making of AtS was only informed of the WB decision last Friday, so they haven't had much of a chance to come up with any contingency plans.
