Winter wonderland

Early yesterday afternoon, it started snowing, and I mean it really started snowing. Of course, this led to the topic of the day in the office going:

"You haven't listened to the weather forecast this morning, have you H?"
"Would I be wearing full petticoats and strappy heels if I had? dumbass"

It's been snowing ever since. This morning when I woke up and looked out the window, the world was all quiet and white. The train in to work crawled through the pristine meadows, watery sunshine lighting the way...I don't mind winter when it's like this. Too bad it'll soon give way to depressing grey skies and rain again.

At least your trains still work!
Feb. 26th, 2004 01:48 am (UTC)
Not anymore, they don't! Seems the country's come to a standstill in the last two hours...one by one my co-workers are calling in to say their trains have been cancelled or they're stuck in traffic, and they'll be working from home today. Fuck! Why didn't I think of that?
Feb. 26th, 2004 01:58 am (UTC)

I've just hoping it won't snow while I'm a work again. I've done the sitting in traffic thing once this year, I don't want to do it again.

Ah yes, but soon you'll be able to do it in your beautiful minty new Rover. Plus, Ministry of Sound at full blast...That's bound to make it a more pleasurable experience next time.
Feb. 26th, 2004 02:18 am (UTC)
Good god, I'd never listen to Ministy of Sound, I'd rather die. That's a very different thing to Ministry who are industrial (and also crap, but that's a different matter).

I can't wait for Minty, but it the financial side of things is coming along so slow. It might be the middle of next week at this rate. Damn.
Feb. 26th, 2004 02:31 am (UTC)
Oops, sorry! One Ministry or another's pretty much the same to me...but I find that virtually anything, if played loudly enough, can be a perfect help in alleviating boredom when you're stuck in a tailback for miles on end. Except for German schlagers, of course, which are only bearable with the sound turned completely off.

I just have a deep loathing of dance music.
Feb. 26th, 2004 03:04 am (UTC)
It depends very much on the DJ and the mixes, but I like some dance music. I loathe c&w, though; as well as the afore-mentioned Schlagers, and gangsta rap, or any kind of rap, and hiphop, and technoacidhouse, and modern 'classical' music, and experimental hippie stuff (Tubular Bells), and Charlotte Church, and manufactured bands, and Idols, and certain kinds of jazz, and Tulips From Amsterdam, and...

...actually, there isn't all that much I do like! Wonder what category GotR will end up in...
Feb. 26th, 2004 03:15 am (UTC)
GotR=poor Bryan Adams knock-off to me, but it's been awhile since I heard an mp3 - they might have improved.

I agree with all the above genres and would like to add modern R&B, 'urban', Ragga and brass bands.
Feb. 26th, 2004 03:26 am (UTC)
they might have improved

That's what I'm hoping for. Because I'd hate to think I'm only going to see them to cop a butcher's at their lead singer. I was never this shallow in my younger days!

But the mp3's I heard last year have given me plenty of reason to worry, and question my sanity.

Hee. But you know that's the truth!
Feb. 26th, 2004 03:31 am (UTC)
I'm in denial. I like it that way.
Feb. 26th, 2004 03:37 am (UTC)
Just stand at the back and try to maintain your dignity. Go for a 'I'm too cool to be here' vibe, it might work. Make sure you get a good view though!
Feb. 26th, 2004 04:38 am (UTC)
Hey! Veteran of many small venue gigs here: I think I can pull of a was kinda I'm too cool to be here-vibe to perfection. I'm still looking for a way or an excuse to be giving off that vibe standing in the front row right in front of James, though; because that's the only place I want to be! Hope I won't have to pay for it with total deafness...poor Bryan Adams knock-off, eh? I may have to reconsider after all. There's no way anyone can pull off a cool vibe at that.
Feb. 26th, 2004 05:02 am (UTC)
There's nothing for it then, you'll have to go in disguise. Then you be at the front and scream all you like.
Feb. 26th, 2004 06:56 am (UTC)
Looks like I managed to persuade db2305 to come with me. We can look bored together; much more convincing!
Feb. 26th, 2004 07:00 am (UTC)
If you do that at the front, you'll give the man a complex.
Feb. 26th, 2004 07:02 am (UTC)
Ooh er missus, I'd like to give the man a complex alright, know what I mean? No? Nor me, neither! God! it's been such a long day, and it feels like it's just getting longer and longer!
Feb. 26th, 2004 07:08 am (UTC)
Complex? Is that the new name for it?

I know what you mean though, it has been a long day. Still nearly over.
Feb. 26th, 2004 07:12 am (UTC)
For you maybe...I've still got some tests to perform and then yoga class to go to. When all I really want to do is have an early night for once. I need my beauty sleep if I'm to give JM a complex! ;-)
Feb. 26th, 2004 07:16 am (UTC)
What am I talking about? It's not JM I want, it's Spikeypoo! See how work's turned my brain to mush?
Feb. 27th, 2004 07:53 am (UTC)
Excellent, G - just bring something for your ears, is all I have to say! But I bet you'll enjoy watching James in action, even in your "being cool" vibe ;-)
Feb. 26th, 2004 01:41 am (UTC)
Oh, lovely!

They promised us snow too, but there seems to be a bright, clear blue sky out there.

Good luck with the heels!
Feb. 26th, 2004 01:46 am (UTC)
You haven't wasted any time turning that pic into a lovely icon, have you? Very nice!

Good luck with the heels!/i>

That was yesterday, sweetheart. Today, I'm wearing slightly more sensible motorcycle boots.
Feb. 26th, 2004 01:56 am (UTC)

Oh, god - I've lost a day.

And... isn't he just gorgeous.... *sigh*
Feb. 26th, 2004 01:58 am (UTC)
That's a rhetorical question, right? *sigh* He is.
Feb. 26th, 2004 04:53 am (UTC)
Hez! No fair! It's supposed to be grez and driyylz while I ski in the sunshine....*grumbles*
Feb. 26th, 2004 06:57 am (UTC)
Don't worry...it's starting to melt away already!
