Looking back

Before LJ, I used to get my jollies Internet-wise on Yahoo! and Delphi, participating in message boards, groups and forums. I got to know some of the people I met online in this way pretty well, even regarding some as friends, swapping Christmas cards, recipes, and RL stories. A support network that got me through some real rough times: health scares, hospitalisation, divorce, death in the family...

All of that has gone out the window since tiashome seduced me, sent me an invitation code for LJ. I am now so committed to keeping my livejournal up-to-date that I haven't got time anymore to visit my old buddies at Yahoo!Clubs or Delphi Forums. Though sometimes I sneak in and read the latest messages from people I used to know -- and the random The The lyrics going round my head at the moment 'You smile and think how much you've changed/All the money in the world/Couldn't bring back those days' are strangely apt to describe how I feel when I go there.

Plus, I really really hate the format of Yahoo!Clubs!

I'm coming up to my first anniversary on LJ, where I have found so many lovely people to share things with. But if I'm honest: gone are the days that I used to bare all in my online scribblings. I'm far more careful of the information I make available in my weblog than I used to be in the tight circle of cyberfriends I had before. And I wonder, is this a good thing or not? If I censor myself, even in those entries I mark 'Private', what business have I got keeping a web diary in the first place?

Meanwhile... "Sarah Michelle Gellar’s deal to resurrect Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the May 19 series finale of Angel is all but signed in blood: "If she’s available, she’ll do it," her manager promises. " TV Guide interview with JW.

WHAT?? Oh please God, don't let her be available, please. I don't want it to be about her.

I'd better fill out another meme to take my mind off it...gacked from artemis_child, who undoubtedly got it from someone else, etc. etc. etc.

Wearing: black jumper, black ankle-length skirt with purple flower motive, butch black leather motorcycle boots.

Hair: hopeless. I'm not happy with it since my last visit to the hairdresser's, but I'm afraid to go back and have that girl ruin it some more. Home colouring: mûr sauvage, Nutrisse Garnier.

Makeup: the usual: Vinéfit daycream by Lancôme; No. 7 face powder, transparent 01, by Boots, a touch of black mascara (Définicils, by Lancôme), and Gold Holographic no. 38 Glam Shine lipgloss by L'Oréal. The first 3 items on this list never vary.

Jewelry: my stepmother's diamond ring, which she gave me on her deathbed and which I've worn ever since. I like jewelry. I own a few things. I can never remember to wear any, though.

Eating: I haven't yet.

Last phone call: Simon Nicholson, New Scotland Yard (Met). A business call, but pleasant enough.

In your purse/handbag: the usual: a few lipglosses, a powder compact, keys, important documents and cards, a book (Jean Auel's The Shelters of Stone), a brush, pens, appointment book, mobile phone, fold-up umbrella, and a little money.

In your CD player: Sheer Heart Attack, Queen.

Cell phone ring: what it came with. I've no interest in changing it.

Desktop picture: promo pic of JM in black shirt.

Last watched on TV: BBC Breakfast (weather, sports, stock exchange news). I always switch on the telly while I'm getting ready to leave in the morning, so that always comes on. Though I don't really watch it; it's more like background noise...The last thing I actually watched must have been that documentary -if you can call it that- on Noah's Ark, on the Beeb last Saturday.

Last website visited: LJ.

Plans for today: make it to 5 o'clock. Find a way to make work fit around my on-line time. Prepare for off-site tomorrow.

Last thing bought: Sheer Heart Attack, Queen. It was on special offer. And I used to have that album a lifetime ago.

Listening to: Sacred Spirit. Songs and Dances of the Native Americans.

Last showered: last night.

I need food: around midday, I expect.

Looking forward to: MR2004 in June, and GotR-concert in May.

Worst part of the day: between 3 and 4pm. I've always hated that time, ever since I was a child. I have no idea why.

Best part of the day: early morning, when everything's quiet and still.

Favorite person of the day: haven't met him/her yet.

Thinking about: Spike.

Current annoyance: my boss (wanker), cutting into my thoughts of Spike.

Current obsession: Spike.

Marleen? You mad at me? But why? Where, in all of the above, am I poking fun at you? I don't understand.
