And in case you're wondering, I'm the one on the right in this picture

Now, gacked from fauvistfly, and changed somewhat:

1. What's your name, or what do you want me to call you?

Here, and everywhere else on the 'Net, it's Gamiila. That's Gah-mee-lah, not something that rhymes with that awful Parker-Bowles woman's Christian name.

2. If you read fic, what's the one fic that you just keep reading over and over and you've got it saved to your hard drive?

Half-Gifts, by Shannon/automatedalice_, is my favourite fic, and if you're reading it, you'll know exactly why. But there's loads more that I read and re-read on occasion, and all of them are saved to my hard disk: More Than Strangers by sadbhyl, Seven Years in the Desert by Caro/spikewriter, The Bittersweets Series by herself_nyc, Journeys by Mary, A Raising in the Sun and sequel by Barb C/rahirah, mustangsally78 & rivkat's The Heart's Filthy Lessons and sequels, Buffy Season Noir by Anna S/eliade...stories by nandibble, echidnas_pen, anniesj, ariane5, wisteria_, nautibitz, harmonyfb, ginmar, lordshiva, gwyn_r, onetwomany, buffyx, and so very many more...

Currently, I'm totally engrossed in eurydice's Legions of True Hearts, e.g. - as well as herself_nyc's Where They Have To Take You In, although I've gotten a bit behind on that last one...

3. What's your favorite LJ icon, and why?

I have several favourites: Tribute, by behindblue_eyes, because it appeals to my sense of humour; Bad Thoughts, by eurothrashed, because I think it's sexy; Hand Of Spike, by desuete, because it's just such a beautiful, powerful image...and of course, my Naked!Spike-icon that bogwitch made me, because it's mine and no one else's...

4. Do you have a website, or do you know of a cool website to visit?

Erm...how about my employer's: www.hp.com? No? Didn't think so...

5. What's the one song/artist/band that you could listen to forever?

At the moment, that seems to be Rain Down On Me by Dutch rockband Kane; but ordinarily, I would have said that my favourite artists are Paul Weller and David Sylvian, in equal measure.

6. What's your favorite t.v. show, and how far will you go to be able to watch it? (Do you often find yourself clubbing people in order to steal the remote?)

Since the demise of BtVS, I don't think I have a favourite TV show anymore. I usually don't watch television much, and even if I have a show I like more than others, I won't go to any special lengths to see it (other than programming the video to record it when I'm out).

7. Rec me some fic, or someone's LJ.

bogwitch has some very funny ficlets on her Spike Page...

8. Do you have any pets, and if so, what are their names?

A black pussycat: Leila (meaning: black, because she is)
A tortoise pussycat: Clio (meaning: heralding, because she tends to make a lot of noise)
A white tomcat (kitten): Manasse (meaning he causes to forget, because I used to have a black tom called Aloysius, who was anything but wise, but happened to have been born on the 25th of August. He died 3 1/2 years ago, aged 15 years, 2 months, 2 days when he'd been with me 15 years, 2 months).

9. If you were forced to watch the same movie over and over for the rest of eternity, what would it be and why?

Cat On A Hot Tin Roof already appears to be fulfilling that role for me: it's always on at a certain movie channel here in The Netherlands...and I always stop and watch it every time I channelhop and see it's on. There's something about that film that keeps intriguing and enticing me...and I love seeing Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor on such fine form.

10. What's the meaning of life?

42 -- but we need to define the question more clearly.

PS. As to the JM having his locks shorn off rumour that caused me such distress yesterday: it appears that if it is going to happen, it's not going to be on Ryan Seacrest's show for today, though JM is tentatively scheduled to appear there on April 27th. We'll just have to wait and see and live in dread for a little while longer.

Pretty pic!

Cheers! But, you want to see pretty pics, you've only got to look at yourself in your elegant Indian outfit...those were absolutely stunning!

As to my fic-list: I've just realised that most of them are WIPs. Some have been WIPs for more than a year (which is one reason why they reside on my hard drive, so I can't forget about them).

But I don't know how I could have forgotten to list cousinjean's Getaway, or Laure Alexander's Alpha Series, or cosmicfish's Shadow to Self, or...Over the last two years, the period that I've been immersing myself in this fandom, there have simply been too many fic favourites to list them all here. I'll just add that recently, I've been completely captivated with deadsoul820's Sunday Girl, and Peasant's Giving Him The Moon, and shut up, already.

It's nice to finally have a face to put with your name...and pernounciation of that name. (I knew that it wasn't the rhyme, but hadn't worked out exactly what was correct.)

That's the trouble with these Internet handles: because you think 'em up and in your mind, they roll off the tongue easily for you, you think their pronunciation is self-evident to everyone else as well...I always think of you as 'veg-em-bee', but who knows, you might prefer it to come out as 'veggumb' or something? And by the way, where does it come from?

veg - I'm a vegetarian. mb - my initials. And you have the it right.

It's cute Gah-mee-lah! I was a little off on the pronunciation -- I thought it was Gah-mi-lah ;-)

Oh! Maybe he's having second thoughts? ::looks at icon and hopes desperately::

BWA-HA-HA! Doesn't he look awfully brainy in that one? Or like a creature from another planet? It's just too funny!

Um.

We have very similar lists, though 9 Lives by Miranda and Sally should get special mention. Half-Gifts, is so influencial to me, as is
anything by Barb C.

I never got the attraction to nandibble, I will have to try again one day.

4. Do you have a website, or do you know of a cool website to visit?
Erm...how about my employer's: www.hp.com? No? Didn't think so...

That has to be one of the most inpenetrable websites ever devised. Sure it wasn't created somewhere in hell?

Crikey! I don't know how I could have left that one off the list: it's bloody brilliant!

Well, to be perfectly honest: I've sort of gone off her a bit. Old Blood I thought was a wonderful and exceptionally well-written and thought out narrative, and Enemy of my Enemy as well...but the last two stories I'm having some problems with. Her Spike's getting further and further removed from my Spike, and although I admire her ability to create such a consistent universe for her characters, it doesn't really satisfy...but I'm like Magnus Magnusson in that I've started, so I'll finish.

That has to be one of the most inpenetrable websites ever devised. Sure it wasn't created somewhere in hell?

D'you want me to pass on that comment to the person responsible? Might do some good -- though I doubt it.

It is, but I never did work out the reason for him being a cat.

There has to be a reason?

Sorry, I'm not deep. I never think about these things much; just take 'em at face value...

It seems like two stories in one.

Hmmm -- you're right! I remember now, that I did wonder about that after I finished reading the story. They probably intended to write one story -- then the plotbunnies took hold and ran with it.
