What a dickhead my manager is! He called me in for 'a quiet word' this afternoon, and tried to tell me that from this day forward, I would have to limit my private use of the Internet to 15 mins. a day! Bloody cheek! I told him where to stick his rules & regulations...but I do hope I'll have some money left in my bank account after New York because now I definitely want a home computer as a contingency plan... I had to wait all day till he'd gone before I could upload my GotR-pictures. Spoilsport!

Cheers! Bit big, though...

Wah! I can't see them!
May. 19th, 2004 05:12 am (UTC)
Yes, that was the beautificus Dutchbuffy in that pic, earplugs and all!

I've taken down all the pictures because of bandwith-issues...I'm going to try and tweak them tonight as soon as Whathisface has left the building, then post again.

These are fantastic pictures! Thank you for sharing.
May. 19th, 2004 08:07 am (UTC)
You're welcome. I've taken them down now because of the obvious bandwith problem, but will re-post as soon as I'm able.

Hi. I'm adding you to my friends list. :-)

Lovely pictures! It looks like he's holding a white elephant. I wonder if there's a deeper message behind that. Hmm...

Ooh, thanks for including db2305, especially since I won't be joining you on Friday. I wish I had time for it, but I can't spare two days of travelling. Also, I've kind of blown my Jossverse budget on ordering the cheap Region 2 BtVS DVDs.
May. 19th, 2004 05:26 am (UTC)
That white elephant was actually a giant white mouse. Whatever do you make of that, then? ;-)
May. 19th, 2004 10:38 am (UTC)
Ooh, that's even better. ;-)

Seriously, he looks like he's having a great time. And those arms are yummy.
May. 18th, 2004 10:15 am (UTC)
They came out then? (not that I can tell as you're over bandwidth. I'll look later.

Your boss is a big meanie.
May. 19th, 2004 08:01 am (UTC)
Isn't he just? I'm sorely tempted to look into the purchasing of dolls and pins.
May. 19th, 2004 08:03 am (UTC)
You can make them of out wax. Might be cheaper. :)
May. 19th, 2004 08:06 am (UTC)
Will probably be more effective too, if I can get hold of some of his skinflakes or toenail clippings to put in the mixture...OK, I'll look into the puchasing of wax and...skewers, then (they sound a lot more painful than mere pins, don't they?)
May. 19th, 2004 08:07 am (UTC)
This won't be good for your karma, you know.
May. 19th, 2004 08:09 am (UTC)
Karma - shmarma, 's what I say. The man's got it coming, or would you deny that?

Alternatively, I could just put greater effort into finding another job closer to home...
May. 19th, 2004 08:17 am (UTC)
Well, they might not let you use the internet at all.

I think you need a computer, dear.
May. 19th, 2004 08:21 am (UTC)
I think so, too. Think I'll have to break open the piggybank.
May. 18th, 2004 10:29 am (UTC)
Grrr. I'll have to check in later, as you're totally over bandwith...
May. 19th, 2004 05:28 am (UTC)
Darn! I'm totally over bandwith...I'm not quite sure what that nmeans, but it's wreaking havoc with my lj, and I don't like it. I'll try and tweak those pics next, see if that helps the situation any.
May. 18th, 2004 02:26 pm (UTC)
Over bandwith??? Bugger! It's been days since the London thing and I could do with a fix. Oh, well maybe later.

And your boss? What a sod. Jeez, girl, isn't it time you got out from there?

I'll keep an eye on you in NYC - make sure you don't spend too much. As if.
May. 19th, 2004 05:19 am (UTC)
Jeez, girl, isn't it time you got out from there?

Definitely. But who'll have me?
May. 18th, 2004 08:03 pm (UTC)
Hmm, maybe things are different in the Netherland, but it doesn't seem like your boss is being all that unreasonable. Here employers are well within their rights to restrict, even disallow entirely, the personal use of company equipment and bandwidth. Corporate policy regarding Internet access varies, and I'm lucky in that the company I work for doesn't mind people doing a bit of surfing as long as it doesn't cut into work time and isn't wildly inappropriate. For example, I'd never read NC-17 fic or download MP3s at the office, because that's the kind of thing that could easily get me sacked. Fortunately, I have a laptop and broadband at home, otherwise I'd go quite mad ;-)

It's a shame, but I can't see the GotR pictures :-( I'll try again tomorrow!
May. 19th, 2004 08:16 am (UTC)
Sorry about the pictures and the bandwith issue...I've been working with computers now for over 10 years and I still don't understand how they work. I'll re-post the pics as soon as possible.

As to the question of Internet access from work: I'm in exactly the same position re: corporate policy as you are; I just happen to know the rule better than most of the other employees as I was part of the senior management/employees committee that drew it up a few years back. So it's not up to He Who Shall Remain Nameless to try and restrict it in any way, as long as I take care to surf only when it doesn't interfere with my usual tasks. Hmmm -- I think there may be some room for improvement there...

Yeah, we're still on for Friday, but whether we'll arrive in one piece...I'm driving, after all.
